Default Time for suspension work

It is time to upgrade/replace the stock suspension on my 01 Coupe. I have the magnetic ride crap. Can i not just swap to Z06 shocks, or do I have to get special shocks that will work with the Magnetic suspension stuff.

Any help is appreciated.

Ben

not sure if you need to get special shocks..

but the new C6 z06 shocks are a good deal, as are the billsteins sports.

Don't go for the OEM replacement, thats silly.

If you swap out to standard shocks, Z06 or whatever, you're going to need some simulator resistors to plug in your old shock wiring to keep from getting codes. I don't know whether those can be tuned out or not.

The c6 zo6 shocks are a great deal and they will bolt right up to your coupe. I have the selective ride controll and it sucks. There is no reason to keep it on you car. To stop the car from getting codes when you run, you must either turn the codes off, or get resistor to simulate the missing shocks.

One other question would be if I should go with C6 Z06 shocks, or get the Bilstein Sports?

I would check out the Pfadt coilover and sways to tighten up your ride.

Pfadt also sells simulators for the magnetic ride. If your still running the runcraps you ought to think about changing them out.

These changes will make your car out handle a ferrari.

aLL THE CRAP I HAVE DONE TO MY CAR AND i HAVE NEVER taken it to the drags or road course. The price of the Pfadt's are way more then i would spend for suspension parts especially now that the car is a weekend warrior at best.

I think the bilsteins will work fine for me. I do appreciate the links and the info though.

At a minimum add in a set of Metal end link on your sway bar ends.

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Bilstein Sports from Randy at DRM. They were having a special so it worked out great.

Make sure you do the metal end links, if you have a 2001 or earlier vette. The shocks won't help much as the plastic end links will just give way.

Also get some Z06 swaybars/aluminum endlinks from Gene at GMpartshouse.com I got mine for about 240 bucks. I installed them when I did my Bilsteins. Night and day improvement for only about $550for everything (shocks, sways, links, bushings)... I highly recommend doing it all together. You'll already be under there... might as well?
