I'm in the market for a C5 now and if not now, over the next 3 months. It's going to be a daily driver(under 6k miles a year though) in NJ so it will see some snow. I'm wondering if I can put 17x8.5's on it all the way around without screwing anything up? I want to get a different set of cheap wheels so I can just jack up the car and swap one set to the next at the end of the winter. If I do get 17's all the way around, do I need to mess with the suspension or anything? Alignment is a non-issue from wheel to wheel generally from what I understand, correct?
A winter beater is not an option by the way. Space is an issue here so for now, I can only have one car. Thanks!
17 inch wheels should fit on the rear, the brakes are smaller at the rear. Lots of people use 17 inch drag radials.
You must make sure that your rear tires are at least 1/2 inch (stock difference is 1 inch) taller than your front tires. If not, your traction control and active handling will go haywire, and you NEED traction control in the winter.
