When I went to the body shop to take pics of my car after the tear down. My mech. reached his hand into the front frame rail and pulled out this piece of paper........my original build sheet.........pretty cool.....he said he's actually had people have him remove the front end of their car just to get this thing out for them.
It shows that it was ordered for Freedom Chevrolet in Verdin IL, which is where I got it from used with 1,400 miles on it.....

Thats great original build sheet.........That's great documentation for our Z06's, especially for the purist Corvette enthusiast who keeps the mileage low and in mint condition. I don't know if you guys really realize it, but total production for the Z06 hardtop was only 28,000. It was the second series z06 produced since 1963 and the first series in Corvette history that they produced three models, vert, coupe and hardtop. It's also the first time in Corvette history for a fixed roof hardtop with a trunk, starting from 1999-2000 for base model hardtop, and 2001 - 2004 for the Z06. In years to come out of the 28,000, who knows how many good ones will be left. For the young purists at heart, this is a great investment and excellent documentation for the future.
I know this sounds crazy but I was contemplating getting it 1st photocopied (may have the image cleaned up a bit) and then having both the copy and original laminated to keep them preserved and then putting the original back where it came from...........kind of like putting it's soul back.
I am extreamly proud of my car and believe it to be one of the nicest cars out there........especialy for what you can pick one up for now days. I can clearly remember picking up my car and all the events that lead up to it.
I honestly can not see my self being with out a Corvette.........this past month has been killing me.

For guys like me, with the bumper vettes, to have this piece of paper is like gold. If you can find yours, do something to preserve it. Who knew when the bumper vettes were being built that they would be bringing the money that they do now and it is even better if you have the build sheet. The more documentation you have the better for the car when it is 30 years old.
Okay, with that said, I am guessing mine will have half a million miles on it and be worn slap out by then. No will care about C5 Z06 corvettes even though they were the shiz when they came out, but you never know.
If I had mine, I believe I would do something like you have planned. Get it photocopied and save the original.
You can call the museum and they can get you a reprint of your window sticker to go with the build sheet. All you need is your VIN.
