Default Wife drove my Z06 today ...

we have had the car for just about 3 weeks now and today on the way home from cruising a few stores she drove us home..She hadn't driven a strait drive since her 90 Honda. We pulled into a Business Park so she could get the feel of the clutch and the shifter which took her a few minutes and then she drove us home , she dun good...

oh...and she passed a cop sittin' on the side of the road doing 65 in a 45...we got lucky....

She did say that this was the best car she has ever driven...and I agree...

Hi only59 -

Maggie was the first one to drive my Z06 - she drove it off the lot after we had made the deal.

She can drive a 6 speed fine, but she was always nervous driving it.

That's why she decided she needed her own automatic coupe.....

best regards -

I had a hard time convincing my wife to try and drive my Z....

Time passed and I had my mods done at ECS this spring.....

So this summer my wife asked for me to take her to a big parking lot so she could try the car for the first time ...

Well she did great !! I told her to take it out for a spin....

She came back to the house about 30 minutes later ....big $hit eating on her face....

First thing out of her mouth...."I love the way it sounds and the way it shakes at red lights"

She then proceeds to tell me: " Yeah ....I was at this red light....and this chick was eyeing me up .....the broad was driving some kind of VW and revving her engine.....so I revved it up and let out the clutch....I almost stalled it...but then it just went .....and went real fast !!!! "

Oh god I thought...Ive created a monster !!!

My wife drove mine one time on the first day I got the car. She did a pretty good job I must say. She has only drove my 70 one time since I got it all back together and then I had to make her drive it. She says she would rather just set back and enjoy the ride.

Default Oh Boy!!

Let your wife drive any vette especially the Z06 if she likes a stick can be a big mistake. Kiss that car goodbye, it is now hers. That is what happened to me forcing me to get another one. The good part is once they drive and get hooked wives can be Very Supportive making Vette life a whole lot more fun.

My wife enjoys driving mine except the part about the lack of visibility (blind spot). Your wife complain about this at all?

My wife won't drive the car. She doesen't feel comfortable with the lack of visibility and not being able to see the front of the car over the hood.

My wife has no business driving my Z06. She has her own car for herself and I told her she can go buy any other if she likes but it will be a cold day in hell when I let her at my Z. Thats like me cooking in the kitchen or doing laundry....it just aint gonna happen.

The blind spots are pretty ruff overall, I pretty much don't like them myself...

but..it ain't gonna ever stop me from having this one or another..

No issue here with my wife wanting to drive the car, she drove our other Vettes' as well , well not the 69/427 ... If she drives the Z06 too much we'll just get another !

I take a non Neanderthal approach...it's her choice, but she's not interested.

Right after I got mine, I let the girl friend drive home from a trip we were on. Sitting in the pass seat is a different perspective and she new I was nervious letting her drive. Well after about an hour I though it sure seemed funny that the rpms were a bit higher then I though they should be ... turns out she had been in 4th all the time .. doing 70-75 ...

SHes never wanted to drive it again (and Im thankful she doesnt!)

My wife loves to drive my TT Z06 but she never lets the beast out of the box. What she does do is give it back with an empty gas tank.

Thats funny.

I tried teaching my wife how to drive a stick several years ago on a 78 pace car I had. I made the mistate of calling her stupid because she couldn't get the hang of it. That was it, she never tried again and she never forgot I said that, even after 20 years.

My daughter on the other hand drives the Z06 all the time.

My wife drives our Z a good bit, especially when the whole family participates in a club event...and she's pretty darn good at it. That was part of the deal when we bought the car - she had to drive it before I'd buy it. My only fear is that she'll bring it back having bottomed out or ran into a curb parking it...so far so good!

BTW, we had 15 cars do the Tail of The Dragon this past May. The plan was to swap drivers allowing our significant others to drive the tail up and then the boys would drive back down. My wife was the only significant other to drive. She did great and riding on "The Tail" is quite an experience compared to driving it!

Yea im serious. We have 8 vehicles, so she doesn't need to drive the Z06 as its "mine". She has 7 others to choose from anyway, 2 of which she picked out and bought new.
