Default Halltech venom - fitment issues?

Installed my venom intake today - everything went smoothly but at the end my hood didn't want to close. I ended up having ot have somebody push down on the airbridge with a fair bit of force while i loosened the clamp at the throttle body and re-tightened it.

Then it seemed to fit Just curious if anybody had a similar experience?

I had another customer who initially had this issue, and we found the source of the problem.

If you look at the plastic end of the MAF, make sure the hose clamp is clamping below the notch cutout; if you clamp over the plastic the hose clamp will not cinch down and cause the silicone hose to pull away from the MAF end causing misalignment.

There is not room for error here, since we made everything snug, but we spent a month with 3 Z06s getting all the dims right on the money.

It is my fault for not having instructions ready. One customer actually tried to put the MAF at the front, instead of at the rear of the bridge.

The MAF metal end now goes directly into the bridge, just like the C6 Venom.

Yep, that turned out to be the problem - rubber notch extension piece was pulling away from the MAF. I ended up clamping it in the car, as when I removed it, clamped and put it back in place, it pulled away again.

Clamped it while installed and it went in snug as a bug

Jim Hall - How's your progress coming along with the Venom for 1997-2000 years. Does it still look like it will it be available in Jan 2008??

Thanks

There is really no way to modify the 97-2000. The MAF is too small to insert into the back of the bridge.

97-2000 has a completely different wiring setup MAF size and MAF code than the 01-04. The IAT is also an issue.

Thanks for the update Jim!
So in other words, a Venom type solution will not be developed for the 97-2000 C5. The current Stinger is all that is available and for the foreseen future.
If that is the case I'll stop waiting on a 97-2000 Venom solution and put the Halltech Stinger back on "Buy" list.

Thanks
