Default Driver Seat Wear ?

My Z has 23,000 miles on the clock. Driver seat wear is noticeable in the lower left side support since the wear area is now a dull black. In that dull black area I now have a 1" slit in the upholstery that is growing with each entry and exit. I have not punctured the seat area with anything, however, I do carry my wallet in my left rear pocket. Anyone else have a driver seat wear problem? Will my extended warranty cover replacing the seat?

I suspect that would probably be classified as normal wear and tear.

If that's the only area and the only seat that has appearance issues, a good custom or uphostery shop should be able to substitute a replacement panel for the damaged one(s) and save you some money.

That's what I had done to mine. Replacement panel. Looks like new now.

You have to be careful upon exit/entry with a car like a vette (or any car for that fact) that has a pronounced side bolster..... I constantly see people slide or drop themselves into thier cars....that is why this happens, it doesnt matter if its made from the best leather in the world its gonna happen. I cant stand when people enter my car(s) by just falling into them agains the bolster. You will never see that wear on one of my vehicles.......sorry this is just a real sore spot for me, call me crazy

Like mentioned above....I doubt warranty will cover but you have nothing to lose by trying, if not a good reputable upholstry shop should be able to get you straight again. After you get it fixed (not saying that you did it..... the car could have been purchased used) be more aware of how you enter/exit the car and you will never have this problem again.

This is one of my peeves about these cars. I try to enter and exit the car as easily as possible. I know the seats are going to eventually look like hell because they just do. I just make a conscious effort to clear the bolster entering and exiting.

I have been thinking about purchasing some seat covers to try and even keep any further damage from happening. I drive my vette every day and would like to keep it looking as nice as possible.

Yeah it is a PITA to get in and out w/o some kind of wear somewhere, mine has 36K and the left bolster by your ribs is showing wear. I got a van with 300K that has less wear.

Yeah, I'm 6'2", 240 lbs and 60 years old so jumping in and out is not an option. I try to set in the seat and swing my legs in or out on entry or exit vice proping my a** against the bolster and sliding down into the seat. I did buy my Z used with 9,000 miles on it but the seat showed no visible signs of wear. It now has 23,000 on the clock. My only complaint is the leather GM used is government toilet paper thin (man, that's thin!). I know GM wanted to reduce weight but that is pushing the limit. My Excursion has leather seats and they are heavy duty. I'll take it in Friday and ask the warranty question and let y'all know what happens.

That's why I put seat covers on slightly after purchasing. When I go to sell I'll pull them off should be like new. I also covered the threshold to prevent scuffs.

My 2003 seats are perfect (yet) but my threshold or sill was scuffed when I bought it. Haven't tried anything to clean, fix, or cover it. Any suggestions?
