Just bought a "brand new in box" LS6 intake from fleabay ...... I know. Well I got it today and everything looks a okay with the exception of the part#. It reads 12573572, ive tried looking for this part# and no luck Is this a fake intake or just a different number? Thanks for the help.

Its an older #. Here is where to tell the difference. The LS1 intake is on the left. The LS6 has a flat bottom to the LS1s bulge.

Tip: The "part number" cast into the intake is not necessarily the "actual" part number of the piece itself. On GM parts, it usually is, but not always. The number cast in/on a GM part is sometimes an "engineering" number or sometimes referred to as a "casting" number and therefore will not showup up on the parts lists for ordering the item itself.
This has been the case with GM for a very long time.

No problem. After all thats what this forum is all about.

As for the Foam bottom, I would get that before installing. It keeps crud from getting under there as well as protects the knock sensor from rusting from water (if by chance the engine gets sprayed).

Your profile says you have a 2002 coupe? I thought they had LS6 intakes on them already.
