I was wonderind if anyone has gone through a similar problem with their sensors. My DIC will display, on occassion, 'Service Tire Monitor' and display XXX on one tire. Then it will read normally on it's own. Other times, I get 'L Rear tire Flat", 'Max Speed 55 MPH', 'Reduced Handling'. Does anyone have any thoughts?

might need to reset them all. I have had similar problems on my Nissan Armada and reprogramming them worked. Just reset all on my Vette (new tires) and it was simple. You need a magnet to do this THere is a response to technopak describing the exact method and how to set up the learn tire mode on the options part of The DIC good luck
Yes...I've read about doing the reset and will try that. As a side note, when I bought the car new in 1999, the dealer incorrectly ordered the regular rims, when I requested the magnesum rims. They swapped them for me at the time with some magnesuims they ordered, but I've been suffering with incorrectly placed(or so I thought) sensors in the wrong rims when they swapped. It seems as though they can be programmed though so that my LF is really reading my LF for example, correct?

yes that's exactly right. just bought new tires and they swapped L and R rims when you reset in the learn tires mode the will be correct.
If the battery were dead in that one sensor, why does it register normal pressure some of the time?
The battery is probably right on the low voltage level. I'll bet it reads okay on warmer days and doesn't read on colder days. The temperature affects battery performance.
Your 1999 uses series I sensors, they normally last 7 years or 100,000 miles. You have gotten more years, probably because your mileage is low. I would replace all of them. Buy from a forum vendor (gene or frictners) and they cost about 85 dollars.
Any input on the size of the magnet needed? I presume the ones on the back of the refrigerator stickies are too small?
I bought one ar ace hardware $7.00 bucks as long as it will hold about 20 or more lbs of wt it should be big enough. It just has to move a little ball inside the sensors Just put it next to the valve stem when the DIC tells you to find tire left front and so on You will hear the car horn beep when it resets it's actually very kool
