Default How many vert owners....

Leave their vette in the garage with the top down. My friend has a C4 and the top is always down. I would think this might put permanent wrinkles in the canvas. I always put the top up and windows up when it is not being used. Just curious.

i'm new to convertibles too, but I was told by some senior vert owners to keep the top up when not in use to avoid wrinkles.

If I know I'm going to keep using the car every day, then I'll keep it down but if it's sitting there for more than a day then I'll put it up!

If I know mine will be in the garage for awhile I will put the top up. But I have had the top down for months. You do get wrinkles, but a few minutes in the sun and they go away quickly.

Hope this helps!

I've read on here leave top up but unlatched so weather strip expands and it will last longer. Just remember to hook them when you take it out.

Our detached garage is prone to dusting the cars over time, so I tend to leave the cars as airtight (mouseproof) as possible.

I've got two convertible Vettes (C2 & C5)
C2: when not used for more than a few days the top is up but unlatched.
Sometimes the C5's top is down for a couple weeks during the summer. Only two summers so far, but the top is still almost perfect. In the winter the top is up and latched all the time and I drive it, weather permitting, all winter.

Wrinkles?! Damn, now I will have to go put the top up to check. It's been down for months.

The only time my top is up is in the winter time are temps below 48 it stay down for months at a time in the summer
As long as the top is treated and well cared for it should never get wrinkles in it my dosen't.

Top up not just because of wrinkles, but dust.

I keep mine down only if I know I'll be going back out soon, otherwise it is up "and latched" I'm afraid of driving off and the top flying back.

but mine is a 2000 and it is starting to show some cracks/wear (it is a white vinyl top)...I think I'll replace it with a black top down the road

I drive mine all year long, so it'll stay up until spring. In warmer months I'll park it in the garage with the top down. When the canvas is wet for any reason, I never leave it folded.
