Got the code...now I need help!! Check Engine Light - 15,000 Miles ????
Yesterday I took my 2000 coupe out for a spin and when I started it the check engine light came on. Is there any connection to the check engine light and it being 5 miles away from turning 15,000??? Any one have similar experience?? Please HELP!!!

Mileage would have no bearing on the check engine light coming on. As others have stated, post the code that's being thrown and you can drill down from there. Something mechanical needs to be fixed.
I have a 2000 coupe with 18.7K and just went thru the "check engine light" syndrome, under other circumstances I believe. After you have completed all the checks (that have been suggested by CF members) the manual states, "the car may have to be driven on several short trips" to reset. Yes, that sounds silly, but that is what I did and it worked for me! No cost for doing that..Good luck.
Ok, ran the codes everything has H after it except these few:
40BCM
58SDM
99HVAC
A6SCM
Any thoughts???
I will have to go check the gas cap too...that is a good suggestion. Hopefully it is something that simple!
Thanks for any help!
Those aren't the codes your DIC is throwing. Those are just the numbers and contractions for a couple different systems in your car.
40BCM= body control module
99HVAC= heating vent. and air cond.
etc.
There should be numbers, such as P0155 C1261, followed by an H or a C when you pull up codes on your DIC. This tells you whether the code is HISTORY or is CURRENT.
A history code means it has happened, but is not currently affecting your car. A current code, of course, means it is an active code.
Pull up your codes again and post what you find for codes such as these. Be sure you put the H or C with the code.

I want to say thats the switch that when you push your clutch down will allow you to start your car, it does not sound to serious and those are not that expensive, someone else will chime in tho
