Lifts

my c5 is about 45" high. So stacking two c5's would need 102" (8.5'). Don't forget you will need some room for your garage door rails. If you have an opener, you will probably need at least 10"-12".
Some companies, that built their lifts to order, will built them with the locks at different settings, For example, 40", 45", 50", 55", 60". Now you can park your 48" tall C5 using the 50" lock position and that will allow you to park a car that's 51" on top.

I have ~110 inches to the garage rafters. My C5 (48" tall) and C6 (49" tall) fit with 2-3 inches to spare when at max height (high enough to unlock the safety stops). I believe you could get a car up to the 53" lift height with a 108" ceiling (9 feet even), but it would be pretty tight to the rafters. If you have to settle for the 48" position, plan on working from a rolling stool under the car. I'm 5'7", and the 53" position is the lowest I want the car to be to stand under it. FWIW, I will raise it to about 57-58" when I do work under the car; the extra few inches allow me to stand upright when my head is under the tunnel/tranny area
I have used it with my C5(fair clearance) , 79 TA, less clearance, workable and my T-Bird.
I REALLY wish the ceiling was higher, but I didn't want to modify a 13 year old, $900,000 house.
The scary thing is, to go "down" the lift must raise up 2-3" to release the locks. So, you better not hit the "up" button instead. OR, panic and RELEASE the "down" button, it will then have to go even HIGHER, to lower!
The lift itself, is great! Especially for the C5. I can't imagine NOT having the asymetric/symetric capability!
You might look at KWIK LIFT. There's no electric or hydraulics to them. You drive on and lift the back end with a floor jack. The KWIK LIFT will give you 20" from grade to the runways and typically 30" to the chassis of most vehicles...a Corvette would be less. You're still on your back, but with much more room to work. They're adjustable to different widths/lengths.

Not a bunch to work under the lift though
