C5 Auto Trans Upgrade?
More mods available than you can ever imagine for more H.P. in C5's, but I don't see a whole lot of mods for auto transmissions? (yes, I know purists have manuals). But wondering what happens to the stock 4L60E when you add 100-150 h.p. to the stock 350 h.p. Any issues? Upgrades to 4L65E? Will the 4L60E take it?

One day when it does go out, you can upgrade the whole unit from venders on this site

I have added over 300hp with thin turbos and the stock tranny is still holding up. I dought that 100-150 will do much dammage

Just because on lasts doesn't mean they all will. Chalk it up to luck, because I did EVERYTHING to spare it and it still broke after a few months.
Stock 2.73 gears, stock converter, big cooler with a fan, street tires, NO track use, etc. Didn't matter, it still died.
Assume from the get go it will break, and be ready to replace it with a built unit if/when it does.

Mid-Michigan. I am going to put `08 funds into H.P., as long as it sounds like I won't tear it up, then look to upgrade trans in `09. Any computer tuning involved for trans upgrade?

The greatest weakness of a 4l60e is stock line pressure tuning and the 3/4 clutch packs. Unless you have a 97 then they brake sun shells. I build revxtremes transmissouns to hold up to a lot of power(overkill) but its not a bad thing. let us know if we can help or if you need details about our build.

i have about 520rwhp on my tranny. its a FLP Level V built 4L65E. the old one just took a sheeeeet, but now the new one is even more built up. should hold out fine.
what kills trannies are road racing, or HARD drag strip launches. if you do mainly street driving with the higher hp, i think you'll be fine. but def upgrade the converter!
