and I fell in love with it for the most part. It is a 6m coupe, black on black, one owner 44,000 miles and mint. Dealer has it discounted to $24,900 firm. I have been looking towards a C5 coupe as a daily driver and would then sell my 95 C4 6m but keep my 92 auto vert. The one thing I did not like about the C5 was that the seats did not seem to have enough lateral support. Hmmm what to do. Opinions?
The last time I looked at those online car sites cars.com and autotrader.com, their were several C5 Vette's for around 18k. Their cool to drive and I've only driven one C5 twice so I don't know a lot about them but each time I look around they get cheaper. Once the Bluedevil hit's the street next year and C7's soon the C5's will be a bargain.
Thats not a steal but not bad, either .Ive seen some 02 Z06s sell in that range too, they may have a few more miles on them though. FRCs are in the teens...Like anything else if the one you looked at is that clean it may be worth paying a few more bucks for rather than bargain hunting a former beat-on-by-multiple-owner car.
I really like the way the C5 drives, its a night and day difference from the C4. Would make a great driver/long distance runner.
Good luck on your purchase...
If they didnt have so much computerized stuff in them Id be game for an 04 Z06.
That's actually a pretty good deal for a 6-speed '03 with only 44k, especially coming from a dealer. For that price i would've expected the car to have closer to 100k+ miles on it. It seems that a majority of the C5's have really high mileage on them.
i'd try to hold off and save up for a nice used C6/Z06. 505 horses (or plus that if you're inclined) is a good way to live the future. it would be even better
if supercharged.
I don't think that you're going to find a 03 with less than 50k for a lot less.
I think some people are getting 98's with high mileage confused with this 03 with 44K miles in question. That's about the best price I've seen on a Coupe of that year and miles. 01 Z06's might be close in some cases because they are oil burners.
it is prettt well loaded, sports seats, bose sound, solid top, chrome wheels, HUD
Take a look at the seats again, the sport seats have adjustments for lumbar and the side bolsters. The sport seat has a window just below the head rest. The stock seats did not have any side bolsters to speak of, but the sports have decent side support.

Sell the C4 and buy a C5 and STILL have a bastard Corvette
Buy a C6

In this are that's a good deal. I got my 99 with 48K miles for 18.5 and that was a decent deal in the summer. The rule I was seeing they go up about 2 grand per year. So an 03 in that rule with that many miles would be about 26 grand and at a dealer possibly more. So that sounds like a good deal. There was a small used car dealer trying to sell me an 02 vert with over 80k miles for more money then what you mentioned. Being the "winter" months here in LA I would see if they would let it go for a grand less or so. Maybe offer 24 and try to settle in the middle.
Mine's a 99 black/black coupe and I DD it here in LA too and it's awesome. I also have the sport seats. There are lots of lumbar positions so just play with all the controls to see if anything helps with the support.
