Default HID conversion/headlight door problems

I'm trying to gather info on how we have solved the various headlight door opening/closing problems after installation of HID headlight bulbs. Some have recommended a fuse(s) change from 10 to 20 Amps, etc, etc. All data is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just turn off the lights, and flip the brights, and they'll go down.

My issue is not going down--but the headlight doors opening the first time I turn the lights on. They worked perfectly for two months and now I have to turn lights off/on and the doors open. Closing so far is fine. And I've done the 20 amp fuses change.

Weird. Mine did the opposite. When I installed the HID bulbs, the doors come open when I flick the light switch, but don't retract until I hit the brights.

Default HID OperationProblem

I've got the same problem as you do plus another problem. I purchased a low beam 6000K xenon conversion kit on my 2003 Z06 from eBay member nissangtrpower. He said that several Corvette Forum members had purchased and installed his kit. Well, after installing the kit, when I turn on my headlights I must rotate the swith twice before they come on. Also, I can not get any radio reception when the lights are on. His tech rep said to run a wire to ground from the black wire in the incoming power connector. I did this with no results.

There are tons of posts on C5 General about these issues.
All the problems seem to be traced to low voltage/amperage at the HID start up.
The easiest solution I found to many of these problems is to install a dedicated wiring harness for the HIDs so that they are only switched from the OEM harness but draw their power directly from the battery through a relay.

Such a harness can easily be found on ebay for around $30 and solved all my issues.

Default I also have this problem

Hello...I also bought HID from ebay and I am having the same problem. Well I even replaced the battery to Optima Red top and still same problems. I am going to guess ground wires...but I see someone has already tried that. I was also told ground wires to the battery would fix it...but I haven't tried them yet.
