Default Tune Up

Gonna give my 99 C5 a tune-up.

I am getting a miss at idle (intermittent)

What components should I replace? ie wires, plugs, air cleaner ...what else?

Oh yeah, I got a Check engine light the other day and the Auto Zone computer says it was the O2 sensor. I later found out the car has four sensors. Now the light is out and I don't know if its the sensors before or after the cat I'll have to wait for the light to come back on to redo the test.

Don't forget the fuel filter.
As far as the O2 sensor goes, the cars computer code sould tell you which one it 's. If it's the aft sensor and can live with the light, try clearing the codes and it may not come back. If it's the forward sensor, replace it! You milage will drop because the computer will compensate for the problem.

The guys at Corvette Specialty know a lot more than I do. Email them or give them a call if you don't get an answer on the site.
Ask for Michael.

Good luck!

When I first bought my Vette I had an intermittent miss as well. I checked the tightness on all my plug wires and found one loose. That fixed the miss, but when I went to check the spark plugs, I found that most if not all of the wires were in serious need of replacing (2 literally fell apart just pulling them off the coil and plug). Things I normally do to a car when I do a "tune up": oil/filter changer, plug/wire change, air filter, fuel filter, trans filter/fluid (auto), check all fluids, run some seafoam through the system to clean it out.

As for O2 sensor failutres, it's the forward sensor that's the problem... the aft sensors are just there to verify the catalytic converter is functioning. Definitely have the codes read.

The above responses just about cover it. Only other thing I can think of if all those do not cure the miss is maybe an injector cleaning.
