3 weeks later i go by the chevy dealership of annapolis to check up on it and it is in their body shop completely covered in white dust inside and out. the complete interior, hatch including my 2 amps and sub, the engine bay looks horrible as well with all this white dust. on top of that the service guy showed me the new rim he thinks i will be satisfied with. it is some after market chrome rim (super shiny, normal ones are not chrome) without even the corvette logo in the center cap. i will not be accepting this in the slightest. he even said to my face, it will probably look kinda weird with one real shiny rim and others not so shiny. i wasnt laughing. i will be going back up there tomorrow to tell them i am not satisfied with how they are keeping the car while it is in their care. this is a corvette not a civic. sigh...

Man, that sorta makes me mad too....actually, makes me really mad! How could people treat you and your Corvette like this!?!?!

To me, it don't matter if it's a corvette or civic(I have more than one car and only one of them is a vette), were it mine, treating it like that would be unacceptable. The correct parts should be used and the unaffected parts of the car should be treated with care.
I think I might have a discussion with that guys boss, be it the body shop manager or dealership owner. I think I might let them know in a polite but firm way how displeased I was.

I wouldn't care if it was a Yugo, a Vette, or a Rolls Royce. The body shop would treat it better or heads would roll.
Do you mean to tell me that they don't have a car cover of some sort to put over it? That's unacceptable to me. Personally, I wouldn't have waited until tomorrow, I would have dealt with it right then and there while I was still pissed.

I would have never taken my car to a dealership to have them work on it. I made that mistake one time and I will never take my vehicle to another GM dealership. Find a reputable body shop instead.
I ended up w/ three different rentals in the course of the repair process. You have to battle with them the whole way.
With the attitude you are already receiving, you may want to find another shop with more expertise/professionalism that is contracted to the insurance. You have to watch ALL of the repairs.

with the previous posts, but cooler heads and a talk with the lead guy, maybe not even the Service mgr possibly General mgr will benefit you greatly. Let them know how passionate you are about your car and how you expect it to be treated, then if they mess up let it fly. Only saying that because many people really don't care that much as long as they get it back and it looks good to them, maybe those people only wash their car once or twice a year and care less about the stuff that really Pi$$es true car lovers off. Just my .02 Good Luck I would be jacked up also
i would be mad too if someone said it might look weird having one shinny one when the others arent as shiny. That is a bunch of crap! as far as the dust issue. Its a body shop... There is no way around it. dust will get in there while they are working on it no matter what, that stuff gets everywhere. a friend of mine stored his car in his dads body shop. under 2 covers and when he took it off in the spring it was still white from dust! dont worry. they will have the car looking brand new when you get it. dont worry about it!
Ok, I'm a fairly young guy when it comes to the working world (26). But my family has owned a few businesses through the years and I learned before even owning a car that the thing that really makes a good business is customer service. I don't know how a shop or any business can treat their customers property with such disrespect and on top of it actually tell you it will look weird. I'd tell them it's their car that looks weird because as far as you are concerned it better be at the very least no different then it was before the accident and if not better. If they can't do this they owe you the value of your car or a new one but not a weird one.
You mean to tell us that they are TAKING NO PRECAUTIONS to keep the dust out of your interior and electronics!!!???? You need to give these gomers an earfull!! That's total BS!!
That car should come out of there in pre-loss condition, not with one shiny wheel and not covered in crap. I'm sure they will blow things out but even that WILL NOT clean it up enough. You will have that stuff rolling out of every crack and crevice for a long time. This is not even to mention that they may have just shortened the lifespan of some of your interior electronics!
If this is as bad as you've described it, I'd consider moving it to another shop.

I truly don't think they are trying to do the wrong thing. They just don't understand how important it is (with this particular vehicle) to go out of their way to do the right thing.
I was always friendly/diplomatic with the repair shop, but I had to really help them understand how passionate I was about my car.
Once they understood that, I ended up with repairs above and beyond what I had expected.
You definitely do not want to get angry, but I was told many times to reconsider about who I had chosen to do the work. I probably should have investigated/researched more in the beginning.
I have a hunch that most body shops/repair facilities are so used to repairing cars that people really dont care much about.
Sorry to hear, be careful being to firm, your car is not done yet and worse things can happen. I understand your concerns about the interior that is pushing it.
sadly, it is hard to find someone that takes pride in their work and do the things that really make the results happen. being a construction superintendant, it is more and more difficult to get people to focus on details. all of YOU know details make the difference. i feel for you, man.
