I was just thinking, can the stock engine handle nitrous in limited amounts or will it cause damage? If so how hard is it to install and how expensive? My friend is always wanting to out accelerate me in his stock 03. BTW mine is a stock 04. Any ideas?
LS1's love nitrous, figure to spend anywhere between 500 and 1k depending on what bells and whistles you get, on a stock motor, tuned properly, you could spray a 150 shot forever without hurting anything.
If a stock '03 is out accelerating you in a stock '04, you need to push down on the right pedal harder...much harder!
but yes, LS1's can 'handle' the boost (up to a point)..., but you are opening a whole new can of worms up if you start spraying all the time, most have a forged short block when boosting. Also, you need to decide if you want the extra safety of a wet shot vs. a dry shot, one is much safer than the other.
If you want to learn more about this, you will get a much better response in the Forced Induction tech section.
