Default The coves..

Inside the coves in front fenders are some kind of flap...can you remove this and if you do will it let engine heat escape better thru them?

Don't know about those, but there is a weather strip between the hood and the windshield cowl that can be cut. Remove about 6" of material on both ends and it will allow some of the trapped air in the engine compartment to escape. It's about as effective as a free mod could be.

I wouldn't take out the one on the passenger side because it will make it easier for water to get on the pcm.

Wrong... removing that strip lets air go under the hood and will cause the hood to flutter. As air comes over the hood and hits the windshield it creats a high pressure area. W/o the strip it will in effect act as massive cowl induction and not do what you want.

I know... I tried it at VIR up to 160 mph. I promptly put it back in and all was normal.

I'm guessing that stuff was put there for a reason.

Also, you have no need to let heat better escape. Do you have a racing radiator? Do you race the car? Do you have twin turbos etc? If not the car is fine and enginered that way for a reason.

Yes, the flaps can be removed (held on with a couple of screws), but doubt it would help much with heat extraction.

^ Yes it's two screws on each fender... I have mine off for my re-paint. Just took them off a few days ago.
