Default CAGS Shift Eliminator

I bought the shift eliminator and will be installing it on my 2003 Anniversary Vette.

Any good advice for lifting the Vette to installl this?

Theres a good DIY thread here on the forum, making approach boards, which will allow you to get a floor jack under both the front and the rear and lift each end up. I like the approach boards for oil changes and tire/wheel changes.

Or you could just use pucks and lift each side one at a time, which is all you need for the CAGS.

Just use a good floor jack with a piece of wood and lift from the rear crossmember (plus use a pair of jack stands for added safety). Then you can crawl under the car and install the CAGS eliminator. Takes about 10 minutes from start to finish.

Or back it to edge of driveway apron with *** end hanging over the street. It works.

It took longer to jack my car up and crawl under it, than it does to install the CAGS eliminator.

Wait until the next oil change and all you have to add to it is about 20 seconds.

That's certainly the truth! Instead of using a plastic tie wrap to secure the widget to the transmission ear, use a rubber isolated clamp and a 1/4-20 bolt/nut. It'll keep it isolated enough to prevent heat damage.

If you have a pair of ramps, just back it up on the ramps. Slide in from the back side, 5 minutes or less you've got the job done.

Piece of cake.

Best $20 I have spent on the car to date. Of course the later "tune" also disabled both the CAGS and the dash light, But it's way more than $20.

I've got to do this. It's unbelievable that this was designed to save fuel as I have to rev the engine rpms up before shifting in bumper to bumper traffic to keep the damn thing from engaging! Very stupid.

Pucs suck. Get a piece of 3 x 10 ply wood, place on your low profile racing jack (got a great deal on my Harbour Freight jack on-line) and and lift from the rear or front aluminum cross-member. Takes 5 to 7 strokes to raise each end of the car and be sure use jack stands on the cross member for insurance if you are crawling under the car. Changing wheels, not necessary but again safer.

I Autocross so we change our wheel/tires weekly during racing season. Remember...pucs suck, no real vette guy uses them. Sorry!

If you have a set of ramps ...just back up onto them... there will be enough room to getunder and do the install
10 minutes including cracking a cold one afterwards...

That's how I did mine. Took longer than 5 minutes because I had never been on the underside (only had the car about a month) and I had to admire the view!
