Ok guys and gals, I've seen almost all the post on wheels on CF. Been looking for a while now. I'm wanting to put new Chrome wheels on. But heres the kicker. I want the chrome on the inner wheel (barrel) to be has good has the outer wheel. Any info or pics would be greatly appreciated
I do not own them anymore but I believe that the barrels on my speedlines were chromed, WCC did them IIRC, but they were NOT super shiny like the outside. I think you might have some trouble on this one.
My wheels (GM C6) were aftermarket chromed. The inside surface has too much texture, almost like grooves, to chrome evenly like a flat surface. I honestly think it would be more trouble than it would be worth... especially to keep clean.
not to sound rude, but what's your point? do you regularly enter car shows? many chrome wheels have grooved barrels, which are hard enough to keep clean.. as long as you keep the wheel clean, the inner portion is not very visible..

I agree that you are going to have a hard time finding a set that both the barrel and the outer face look the same. Even the Imolas that I had, which were not cheap wheels, were not as shiny on the barrel as on the face. You may just have to get them chromed yourself and pay the extra amount.
the chrome wheels i had were a shiny silver in the barrel, not chromed like the spokes. it appears that most of the experiences mentioned so far are looking the same way.
I think you'll find that the inside barrels are just flash chromed to help ward off rust. Mine blistered like he!! so I cleaned them off with a burnisher (the inside that is, primed & painted them, black) (Show chroming the inside of the rim is just to labor intensive and would probably double the cost of the wheel. (These were GM oem wheels that I did this to).

The coating is the same over the entire wheel, what you're seeing is that the barrels were not polished prior to the plating.
If you want the entire barrel to look mirror-like, they will need to be polished. This is a basic preparation on any chrome plated product.
With wheels, the labor involved to fully polish the barrels is considerable, and expect it to add a few hundred $ per wheel to have it done.

Not rude at all. Yes I do regularly enter car shows, about every weekend during the summer months. My point is, I just want the inner wheel to look as good as the outer wheel. Your right, not to visible on the front, on the back you can see a lot more. I know the average person won't notice the inner wheel. But, I do. Thats just me.
Thanks for the replys....Kind of thought thats what I would hear, was hoping to luck out and fine some that I like. Guess I'll have to spend a few extra $$$ to get what I want.
Hey there BIG AL, you never called me about your request..... ...I had done alot of research about our factory wheels....and I found a man at Corvette Mike's who said he "could" do a set.
Tom, the poster above (about three above) is correct, it requires alot of additional work, but it can be done.....call Corvette Mikes.

What's wrong with yours Allen? I have been thinking about have mine reworked
Hi Paul. Inside the wheel just doesn't look as nice as I would like. I know I can get them in a stock wheel for about $900/exchange. But I was hoping to fine something a little different. I'll send you the info as soon as I get it from a guy I know, who has them.
You and Sharon have a nice Christmas
