Default Is the rear diff the same manual trans/auto trans?

I have an automatic, will the rear differential from a manual trans work?

Yes they are both the same.

Automatics have a plate in between the tranny and the differential and the manuals do not.

You'll have to get your shift points reprogrammed, but the differential gears can be changed.

You'll need new seals, but yes you can pull parts off your existing set-up.

geez I really hope you reply… I just recently found a MT 3.42 gear diff that I want to install into my 2005 A4, I really appreciate the pictures but where did that plate that goes inbetween come from? Did it come off your A4 diff?

Yes it comes out of your old dif.
