today my driver information center said "service Vehicle soon, service traction control." Since i am approaching 45K miles, i assuming its just schedule maintenance. Being 21 and a rookie vette owner, how much is this going to cost?? What are the cost to benefit, in this service?? Just need information and advice in general. THANKS!!!
You either have a faulty computer module or possibly your battery might be a little on the low side. If your battery is just a few volts low during start up, it triggers that message. I had the same issue, then I started keeping my battery on a slow charge every week or two and the problem went away.
Or you can just buy a new battery, but I'm cheap
But its either of those two issues. I'd try the battery first, its cheaper.
You have to check your car for codes. Most likely you are having an ABS module fault. I don't remember the whole procedure, I'm sure someone on the forum will be able to help you, but you need to go into the DIC and check the codes. You are probably experiencing C1214. The repair can be as simple as checking electrical grounds or your ABS module needs to be repaired, which unless you have an extended warranty, is too expensive to have your dealership repair. There are aftermarket places that do the work for a fraction of the dealer cost. I was lucky, I just had to clean and tighten a ground connection.
intermittent messages is how mine started too, after a while it will become more and more frequent and then fail.
I replaced the ebcm a few weeks ago....
