No replies on the other forums..probably because there is no chopsticks (no one wants it) !!
Maybe there's no replies because it would look like boy-racer chit mounted on a C5 steering column. The factory tach is excellent to begin with. You might want to consider simply the addition of just a shift light.
These are excellent and many here use them.
Go to the install link and follow through to the Corvette. http://www.raptorperformance.com/
It only displays to 7000rpm, and not very accurately, it has significant lag to it. (anyone with logging software and/or a shiftlight figures this out quickly).
Although I personally wouldn't install an aftermaket tach (many racers do)...I did install a Raptor shift light, because it's accurate and the response time is instantaneous.
For those with modded engines that can and do shift at 7000+...the factory tach is useless.

No disagreement here...based on his simple question without his intended use I made an assumption he's on the street. On the track more prescision would be needed. My Raptor gets me around on the street fairly well with a better visual cue.
Track use only. Yes, we found out quick the motor spins up quicker than the tach but I didn't want the shift ligt only as habit has me eyeballing the tach as soon as the motor starts winding up tight. Still not a bad idea..using factory tach and shift light for accuracy, but I am not trying to save a dollar.

Look into a sequential shift light if you want feedback from your tach at different positions.
I had the Raptor for 1/4 mile and it worked great. When it turned on shift. For road racing though I went to a sequential shift light only because many times I need to know how much room I have left before I have to shift or even if the shift is worth it. Basically the suquential does tell me what rpm I am at but honestly I care less about that and more about where I am going.

Thanks Wicked. The sequential is what caught my eye on the link I posted. That would probably do the trick without the tach.
