Made My Week!
On his way out,he stopped by my desk, held out the keys to his Vette(he knows I'm saving for one),and says "So ,you wanna go for a ride?"
"Oh,Yeah"
So,to make a long story short,I took his '99 Nassau Blue Coupe(MN6/25k miles/Stock) around the block. My smile muscles were sore when we got back, and he says "wtf was that?"
I said "well,I didn't want to thrash your car"
He says "Lets go again,I'll drive this time".
So we switched seats, and he proceeds to demo the active handling, traction control, and the excellent braking abilities of the C5,all within the first 100 yards, and I'm sure he set some kind of record for the "Around the Block" time.
"So Whadda ya think?" he says.
"I Think it's gonna be worth waiting for"
First time driving a vette, and i gotta say,It was Great -like nothing else I've ever driven.
I've got appx. 2 years to go till I'm financially able to get one(cash),but the wait will definitely be worth it!
And...I thought it was pretty cool of him to give "the old fart in the office" (me) a chance to drive a Vette for the first time--I didn't ask him,he just did it- it kinda made the whole week for me.
Merry Christmas

Maybe save for just one year (prove that you can) and finance the second year. Responsible debt isn't a bad thing.
And... life is short.

We still have two kids at home and so it goes. I support his dream to some degree, but he ain't putting my 67' VW bus in the yard or rearranging the garage. I must admit he is doing a great job waiting for the cash, we have been cash people all our 31 years together and is how we have survived and still eaten.
I know the day is coming where my gray haired old man will be racing around like he was 17 again with a little more style however than back then.......
Actually, she's not on the same page as me with the garage thing, but I've got 2 years to work on that...wish me luck.

During your wait to accumulate the cash, keep doing research on the C5. It will be time well spent. A wealth of good info can be found right here on this forum.
Good luck in your search.
But I remember my first experience with a C5!!!
A mechanic named Lupe at my work in Chicago let me drive his brand new Black 2003 Z06!!!! I drove a 96 3800 V6 Camaro at the time so getting to cruise through a couple parking lots with the Z was unbelieveable!!!
I didn't even go over 20 mph but I was in LOVE!!!
