Default Drivers headlight stuck in up position....

What title says. First, it wouldn't go up, only the pass. side. Now the drivers side is stuck in the up position.

Tried the 'brights' trick...its something mechanical, as I hear a motor turning after I turn the lights off and walk away from the car.

Very frustrating. Anyone know how to get it down for the time being until I get the brass gear, which I believe is the problem??????

Use the manual crank located right next to the light.

Your gears are gone my brother.
You have to replace the gears and I would suggest the Brass gears as the replacement.

Good luck with the repair

John

The plastic piece comes off. That's just a cover. The actual **** is under the plastic piece.

You may have to turn for a few before you notice anything happening. If you go the wrong way, it will only turn so far.

Here's my step by step guide to fixing the problem: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1823603

That first link covers the 97-99 models. The second link covers the 2000-2004 models. They are slightly different.

Hey John, thanks for the kudos. I have to be honest, everything I know about my ride has been because of someone here. The help that guys here have provided to me (the same me who can barely remember which way to turn a wrench) is invaluable. They have saved me money, headaches, and most of all they have kept my ride out of people's hands who could care less about my ride (the "stealership to name one in particular). I jump at the opportunity to help out a fellow Vette owner because so many people here have jumped at the opportunity to help me. Hell, I'd help fix a guys ride for free if he bought it by the garage just so I can continue to learn about the car I love.

You'll see that this spirit rides high here at the Corvette Forum and I hope the bug catches on with every member regardless of his or her skill level. That's what made me join and is why I spend a terrible amount time here! Knowledge is power!
