Need help appraising a 2003 convertible
Hey guys,
I'm new to these forums and don't post much. I don't even own a corvette, I just love them.
My girlfriend's father owns one and is looking to trade it in for a newer model and I'm just trying to gauge whether it would be in his best interest to trade it in or sell it private party.
He has a 2003 white convertible with leather and 6 speed. It has 1,6xx miles on it and ZERO blemishes. It has the anniversary flag but it's not the anniversary edition (the red one).
Any ideas what this would sell for?
Thanks,
Matt

Mid to high $20K.
Always better to sell private party instead of trading in at the stealership.

1600 miles and he wants to trade for a new Vette. He already has a new Vette.
Good luck and I hope he drives the next one.

kbb.com says for private party in excellent condition it would be worth ~32,500.
I'm trying to see if I could get that or if it would be higher or lower (I have heard that year is popular).

Present market value is probably 10% less then KBB. Would do a little better in the spring.
Best of Luck with the sale.

Car is worth what the market will pay.
You can always come down in price until you meet the m,rket or the market neets you.
My first suggestion would be to get a trade price at the dealers and that will provide tyou with your "bottom line"
Advertise it at $32500 and see if you get any takers.
Otherwise we are all just guessing
All you need is the right person.
PS not a good season to sell Verts tho.

Wait 4-6 weeks.
Private party sale. 32,500-35,000.
However with all the news about the economy, it might go for a little less.
Good luck!

I would guess 30k given the low miles and what little I know about it. To trade in this time of year and not knowing where he is, ( please fill out your forum profile) it could almost be a give away to dealer if in the snow country. Try to provide more info as the people here can really nail it for you it given a little more info on location & season it will be for sale.

Thanks guys.
I'm gonna see what it can get from a private sale. I agree to wait until spring.
BTW, it's 1,6xx miles NOT 16,000. It was typed correctly.

consider if sales tax is paid only on the difference between trade in price and purchase price. this could save you a significant amount in sales tax.

Well I found out the dealership is offering 32k for the car.
Between the tax savings on whatever new car he gets, the ease of a trade in and the minimal difference of a private sale, it looks like he's gonna trade it in.
Thanks for the comments guys.
