Glad to see Chevy threw a supercharger on the vette. Maybe this will slam the door on cars like the FORD GT. I was on you tube last night and was so tired of reading posts on videos by people who beat a Z06, or a base Vette. What they fail to admit is any race the vettes lost was to a turbo equiped, sprayed with NOS, highly modded car. They compare apples to oranges. Guess its a compliment when it takes all that to beat a naturally aspirated Chevy motor.
Guess I have a question while on the subject. I was shopping on West Coast Corvette's website and wondered if you had a choice between a twin turbo, supercharger, or pro charger set up on your vette what would you choose?
Wow... Simply amazing and jaw-dropping. Not much else to say except drool.

I'm sure you will get an ample responses on this. I'm not an expert but I can tell you I have a Procharger and dyno'ed at 580 RWHP... no complaints here.

probably a supercharger, because they're belt driven and have more power in the low end and don't need spooling

I have wondered why Chevy has not cast a new BB motor based on the LS architecture. I think that would be an awesome motor. With the way the SB motor has grown, there is not telling what could be accomplished with a BB based LS motor.
Enough of that dream. I read the article in one of the car magazines yesterday while my wife was shopping. Even though the magazine had not driven the car they had nothing but good stuff to say about the ZR1. It said in normal daily use you should never have to replace the brakes. It took me a long time to even be able to drive a C5 Z06, have not driven a C6 Z06, but I look forward to getting a ride in a ZR1 someday. I can only imagine. The front tires are bigger than our rear tires. One half shaft is bigger than the other to help control wheel hop. It sounds like they have thought of everything. I am sure when it hits the street there will be more tuning going on. 9.9:1 compression ratio and 10 PSI boost=600+HP. Wonder who will be the first to change to a smaller pulley and go for more?

This is a joke. When I read this I laughed and then forwarded it to a friend I work with and he laughed as well. Who cares if the brakes will last a lifetime under normal use. Are you going to buy a ZR1 and drive it normally??
This is the same junk CMC material that Ferrari uses. There are 2 companies who have the ability to produce a CMC product that works. Neither is an Italian company (French and American...and the French don't want to play). Brembo must have been pushing this as a total package deal. I think Pratt Miller was somewhat involved with this project, even though they have their own vette now, and I am very disappointed that they put the Brembo material on the vette knowing what they know about these materials (this assumes they were in a consulting role...maybe they weren't). These brakes will be severely pitted/oxidized after a track day. Some Ferrari guys have only lasted several laps. Then you get to drop $10 grand to buy new rotors.
I think they should have left the glass in the hood to the european cars. The seats still look like they suck, just like our cars. The CF skirt around the bottom of the car looks like an afterthought.
The rest of the car looks amazing. I can't wait to see what simple mods are going to do for the Zr1.

My money says that most of the ZR-1s are going to overly rich homes and will only rarely leave the garage, much less see a track. The few that do can certainly afford new brakes if they're taking it there in the first place.
