I have these tire now.....got them a few months ago.
They are a well performing tire........but as with most tires (performance tires) they are not good for the cold.......granted they do just fine but YOU WILL NOT get what you expected in the warmer days.

My other take on these tires is this.
1) they only have 7/32 of tread depth (not the 8/32 that is advertised)
So good street performer? Yea if you want to replace the rears twice a year, as the 315's cost the most for the full set it almost negates their good price.
2) (I don't know about other brands 315's) But this 315 would probably be best suited for an 11" wheel as the tire seems to have a slight bubble affect to it on the stock wheel........my opinion is that a 305 is probably the further one should go in width as far as usable tread is concerned........(but I went with a 315 width for looks reasons as well)
This tire does look fat back there

3)so far this tire has performed well in the rain but as I get down into the wear bars and closer to the last 1/2 of tread life, I can see it's wet performance going down.

I think the best 2 tires for all around aggressive street driving, cost, wearability, wet performance, good looks (subjective)
would be 1st the GS-D3 and 2nd the Toyo T1R

I'd like to hear some feedback from those that have had the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta for a long term test. They look like a great tire but not sure about the one way tread pattern.

Hey there!!
We haven't seen you in a while......
Figured you'd show up in a post like this....

We know you like the SC's and PS2's........but we are also talking about price here on this one........obviously the poll agrees with you.
Have you had a chance to run the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tires?

I don't really follow the thread on them as my OCD would not allow me to buy a tire with 1/2 the car looking like the tires were put on wrong.

Stock Supercar's- I didn't like them at all. They wore down way too fast, had poor traction in the rain and I had issues with them on dry pavement too. Made a "bad-bearing-whine" sound when running between 55 and 65 mph that had me worried until I realized it was the stupid tires. I wouldn't buy them again even if money was no object

BFG KDW 2's - Great tire for everyday use. Wear was great, I put a bit over 20k miles on them they still have 6/32's treadwear left. Performance in the rain is great, dry performance was great as well.
Did decent at the drag strip, slipped a a little coming off the line but did well the rest of the way
Did decent on the short road course, only issue was expansion (increase in psi) each time I did a lap.
Only true downside was that they generate a lot of road noise
I would buy them again

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta - Current tire. I love them. They run quiet, have just as good if not better performance in the rain as the BFG's, dry traction is the best so far. Haven't had them on the track yet but will be running Roebling Road on the 19th and plan to run at the drag strip soon after while the weather is somewhat cool.
Out off all the tires I've ran on all the cars I've owned these ones may replace the Nitto NT555's as my favorite
I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

I have about 35K on the present set of T1Ss and plan on putting on a set of T1Rs next.

Just my opinion.

Danny

I've run the Proxes T1Rs on the street and track for the last two years. They come in C5 Z06 sizes, and to me offer the best all-around value in a high-performance tire. Not as sticky as stock, but close. Much better wet traction, and far superior tread wear IMHO. Oh, and did I mention less than $800 a set mounted and balanced. I've run them at about 12 hard track days this year and probably 5k plus street miles since new, and they're still a long way from replacement. I'll buy them until they stop making them.

I understand your feelings. As long as everyone is open minded and civil in their posts I've found these Forum threads to be very informative, especially for new owners like me. I read every tire thread I could before taking the plunge!

The top 3 tires on this poll are the only one's in stock sizes on Tirerack, coincidence?

Too bad Twil1ght, I would have valued your opinion.

Read the tire posts and threads....there is a wealth of information in this Forum...you'll make the right choice

Not to hi-jack your thread but I am only a Tire Rack customer and you brought it up. Tire Rack is my first source for tires, they pretty much blow away the competition. On wheels they tend to be limited and push only their brands..... I wanted a set of Konig Heliums for my Miata and they didn't offer them. Bought my Kumhos from Tire Rack and the Helium wheels from www.buywheelstoday.com

I like Tire Rack, they have a good web site.....easy to use.
However I got my RT-615's from Discount.
1) Their prices may look higher but the price includes shiping, so it's actually less.
2) They were willing to "make a deal" I got $40 off a set.
3) When I went to order Tire Rack just had a price increase.
4) I'm sure Tire Rack has great customer service (I don't know), but it was actually a pleasure dealing with Discount tires..........and I'm not easily impressed.

I would say as far as how expensive tires are for our car, I guess it's nice to have some good competition out there that makes it as cheap as they do.....

Next set I'll try Discount! Competition is GOOD!

It seems like a lot of the comments about stickiness pertain to auto-x or track days. If the questions about tires was more driven by an occasional trip to the drag strip, how would that change opinions of best tires?

I don't drag race (too easy for the novice to break expensive stuff). Most guys I know that do it even occaisionally use drag radials on the back.

Tire Rack has some great deals, but I've been successful in getting local Goodyear and Firestone Dealers to agree to price match. I just bought a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Positions for my wife's car. The local Firestone dealer matched the Tire Rack price (including my cost to ship) and mounted and balanced for free. Much easier than having them shipped to me. Competition is a good thing!

Thanks to those of you who are willing to share your experience and your opinions. Both are valuable!

I can't believe how popular the Firestone "Wide" Ovals are. Yes they are pretty cheap, but I think some people have lost sight of the poster's priorities. Dry grip, wet grip, and treadwear. If you drive the Z even remotely close to it's intended capabilities, the thin Ovals fall flat on their face in all of these categories. I know that the Firestones supposedly have a high treadwear rating, but my rears are bald after only 12 months from a complete lack of wet or dry grip. I guess if you plan on driving your Z06 like a cadillac, then the Firestones are for you, but some of you guys might want to try some new tires!
