I have the 18/19 setup you mentioned have never rubbed, the important thing is to make sure you have the correct offset on your wheels, I went with the CCW SP20A's. the people at CCW really know their stuff, but once again just make sure the offset is right and you will have no issues..
Drag radials are not really stable over a 100 mph, so I don't know why anyone would run them on the street as their daily tire.
Only advantage of 18's is more selection and cheaper pricing.
I ran the BFG DRs up to 200mph so I would say that's stable. I chose them over regular street tires because 800rwhp will break lose 295 F1 Supercars at over 100mph. Which one sounds safer?
Hoosier makes a 19" DoT legal slick type tire. It's more for road racing but many high hp guys run them on their 19s as a DR substitute with good success.

A lot of wheel spin can be controlled by pedal modulation. I run a six speed so I have a little better control than the auto with a high stall.
I really don't advocate the F1's or any runflats because they are too stiff. I run Michelin PS2's.
I'm sure at the HP levels you are producing you could spin your tires with relative ease. I pulled my maggie and I am now back to NA for now.
I am not a drag guy so it's not a big deal to me, as I am more interested in handling and top speed. Hopefully some of the aerodynamic mods that I have made will help with traction.
I have 315/30/18s on all four. None of the tires rub. It's the front wheels that rub the upper control arms at full turns only.
I've got 315/30/18's on the rear with no rubbing, but never imagined that they would fit the front... Huh... Guess who's gonna go test fit his rear wheels on the front this evening?
Maybe someone can enlighten me on my issue with my wheels...I wanted to get a more aggressive stance for my 02 C5 convertible. I liked the way a buddy of mine's Z06 sat and went with C6 Z06 wheels 18x9.5F and 18x10.5R with 265/35/zr18s and 295/35/zr19s. This combo opened up more fender well than I like. I am considering switching to a 18x9.5F and 19x11R with 255/40/zr18s and 295/35/zr19s. These are taller than the ones I have and only slightly taller than stock. I prefer not to lower my car as it already scrapes the driveway coming and going. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
In order for my 99 to not rub with 19's and 20's and put in 2002 z06 shocks and springs and it solved the issue. Guess the 99's get saggy after a while. The z06 version is a bit stiffer as well and less travel i assume. I put 20 and 22's on and in order for them to not rub in the rears a stiffer set up was involved, that and unordinarily skinnier tire especially for how wide the wheels are to allow the v shaped tire to fit into the fender area for the custom 3 piece wheel with an offset which is flush with the body of the ride.
