Default Convertable Window Separation from Ragtop

I am new to the forum and am looking for any history on reattaching the glass window of a convertable top that has come loose from the adhesive. It is on a 2000, the top is still in good condition other than the glass separation. According to the local Chevy dealer and another independant, the whole top needs to be replaced. I have been told to try the 3M double sided tape available through NAPA. Another was to use clear silicone glue. Has anyone tried either of these with good results? Any input would be appreciated.

Did "search" on 'window separation' and came up with this link (dated 12/15/2007)... There may be others, also.
