Default Yet Another Exhausting Question

Yes- I have researched the past threads on this-

I have a 2002 Z06 that is stock - except for an X-Pipe which I had installed to eliminate the exhaust jingle ( which it did). In the process it took the likeable popping and edgy sound out of my TI catback.

OK- hated the jingles more. Now I am contemplating a Cat-Back.

Here's what I would like to hear in an exhaust:

1) Nice aggressive Idle
2) Nice aggressive sound on hard acceleration
3) Quiet enough to talk and hear a cell phone at cruise
4) NOT LOUD ENOUGH to upset my neighbors

The exhausts I was thinking about are

1) Corsa Indy Pace- But I hear they are too quiet without LT headers
2) GHL Bullets
3) Borla Stingers ( too loud?)
4) B&B PRTs ( too loud?)
5) B&B Bullets ( are they really too loud?)

Remember - all else is stock, no headers, stock cats.

Have at me- whatcha think? The TI exhaust is of course very good- but too quiet for my personal tastes.

Based on what you said the first thing that popped into my head was a set of Corsa Indys.

I was initially inclined towards the Corsa Indy's - however, from the posts I read here, they don't appear o have the "old school" v- 8 at idles that I want.

Seems at WOT te Indys may sound great. However- bear in mind my X-Pipe have tamed the exhaust a bit.

Hearing good thinks about the GHL Bullets...???

I'm running Stingers w/ kooks headers and a big cam... so my wants aren't really in line w/ yours. That said I've heard GHLs provide a nice muscular sound w/ little drone.

I'd say go with the GHL's from what desired effect you want. Here's some links.

I ended up getting the two tip Magnums instead of the Bullets. They are very similar but a little more edgy or raspy I guess. The bullets tend to have a lower more muscular sound. Both systems have almost zero drone.

Good luck

side note...Extreme Motorsports out in AZ had GHL's the cheapest, even with the shipping. Don't know if they upped there prices from last year though.

I had a set of GHL bullets on my 03 and it was an automatic and I had some resonance. Since you have a manual tranny, you will be better able to keep the engine in an rpm range that doesn't drone. I liked the old school sound of the GHLs had it not been for my car being an auto and spending so much time at 1500 -1700 rpms where the drone was, I liked the system. It was well built and easy to install.

I don't have them myself but have to agree with Cobra and say the Corsa Indys sounded like they fit exactly what you are looking for...

Default exhaust with x

I changed exactly what you did and for the same reason. The x pipe made my car to quiet. Went with GHL first. Has the deep rumble at idle but I didn't like sound. Sold them to a forum member and bought Indys.Screams under power and quiet at cruise. Exhaust sounds are very subjective the best advice is seek out different set ups and listen to them in person. Keep in mind that any changes in the system will change the sound you hear. I have now added shorty headers and this made the Indys a little deeper sounding. Good luck.
