Ever since I bought the car these have never been there, so I stopped by the dealership and bought a couple for ~$6 each.
I know they rotate and lock into place, but I know it's just a matter of time before they vibrate *cough*runflats*cough* out again so my question is, how can I put them in where they won't come out as easily?
Obviously I could use some industrial strength adhesive but I want them to still be somewhat removable should I ever need to work on the headlight through the hole...
Just put a dab of adhesive on two spots of the plug and that should hold it. If you ever needed to take them off a quick punch with a flathead screwdriver should pop them right off again if you only do a little drop here and there.
I had one blow out & over the roof of the car last fall when I opened the headlights for the 2cd time since I owned the car. Could'nt figure out what it was til I got home in the garage. I never drive the car at night here...way to many deer to land in my lap.

The stock plugs on my '99 did the same thing - the dealership replaced the plugs and bezels with a newer ('00 model year) version and they never came loose again. The ones in my '00 have never given me a problem. Might want to either silicone yours into place or just get the newer version of the plugs/bezels.
If the plugs are missing, just cut a circle out of the tops on black spray cans and super glue them in. If you ever have to adjust the lights just take off the suround with 3 screws. Simple fix and permanet.
Newbie here with a 98 coupe.
I bought a pair of the "old" style plugs from a reputable vendor and found they are just 2 1/8 caplugs that are too small to stay put by themselves. I made backing plates by cutting down spray can tops and ran a screw them both. They remain removable and won't fall out.
