I'm going on Saturday the 19th, they're going to some sort of auction on a new ZR1. This should be fun, gonna make a little road trip of this. Yippeee!!
Craig Jackson is not the cool, friendly, likeable car guy he pretends to be when the camera is on him.... or so I've heard/read.
Folks,
We (my family) have been to Barrett Jackson for 3 of the last five years (we live in AZ, 3 hours away) and it is a lot of fun. Craig Jackson and the others may be jerks (I have no evidence , but you don't see that or interact with them when there.
They have alot of great cars (which may not realistically reflect the actual market), but it is alot of fun. And they have a lot of really quality Corvettes. Forget the rumors and either go or enjoy Speed's coverage....Speed is really our only main-stream advocate......

I think you're taking all this wrong. There's two discussions going on here... one is about the auction - and another is about the person. The "auction" is always enjoyed
I really don't care if Craig Jackson is a jerk or not. Hell, Zora-Arkus Duntov may have been a jerk for all I know! That doesn't make me love my Corvette any less.
I for one really enjoy watching the auction. It's partly because of the auction that I bought my C5 a year ago.

I've been living in the Phoenix area for 16 years now. I missed a couple of auctions in the early years, but for the last several years I haven't missed one. In fact the last two years, plus this year I spend the entire week (except for Saturday and Sunday). It is THE BEST car show you can see. You will see vehicles that you will never see anywhere else, and might never see again, once they go into someone's private collection.
I don't know Craig Jackson personally - but I know several people that do - and they don't have very flattering things to say. My one brush with him was at SEMA a two years ago - I spotted him at the B-J booth and wanted to just shake his hand. I walked up and offered my hand, he turned and walked away. So form your own conclusions.
This year, I saw only one C5 in the catalog - it was a Spectre-Werks car. There were probably three or four '95 Pace Cars, and several C2's, C1's etc. It will be interesting, but I don't think it will be as interesting as in some years - the cars offered just don't have the same "pop".

I watched it several days ago and there were at least 5 corvettes that went by within a 1 hour period. Highest price I saw for Vette was 105,000 dollars. A 62 series, 57 black cadillac convertible was highest price at 200,000 dollars.
I was surprized at how many corvettes were there. I thought the prices they fetched were very good (high).
The car I liked the most was a 57 cadillac Biaritz convertible, nice green color; went for 40,000 dollars.
My cable provider has put about 38 minutes of Corvettes only from last years show free on demand. I watched some of it this weekend, one 67 after another going for $130-$200K. I like to see some more of the other generations thrown in the mix. They had a ZR-1, a couple C3's and a few special edition C5's last year. The 67's and 57's get the most attention.
I'm looking forward to the live coverage next week.
