Well, my '99 Nassau Blue Coupe has entered a new phase in life. She has been retired to the garage. My wife and I are expecting our 2nd child soon and the vette ..well.. just can't cart all the kiddos around. So, I picked up an electric blue '07 Pontiac G6 GT (4 door) to be a daily driver in the vette's place. I feel good about this transition because now I can keep my vette the way I like to (clean and safe). So.. now to get to those repairs I've been wanting to do. New A/C control unit with a working display, oil pressure sender not saying 128PSI all the time, and replace/cap those door sills that my 3yr old girl wasn't very easy on. I'll probably end up spending more time/money on the vette now that it is a garage dweller. No figure.
Great that you can keep it-a lot of people in your situation would sell, and later regret it. Hang in there!!!!
Yeah.. my wife was really cool about it. She never once even hinted at making me part with my vette when we had our first child on the way. And with one kid, it worked out fine, in general. Now with the second one, she just said "Well, get a new family car for yourself and be happy we have a 3 car garage". In fact, she gave up having the car she liked to get the first 'family car' about 4 years ago.
And yeah.. the Vette is paid for and I have no intentions of ever parting with it. ... ... ... ... unless the C10 (or whatever number they are at) is freaking awesome when the kids are out of college.
You'll probably have some fun in the G6 as well. I bought an 06 G6 GTP coupe (electron blue as well) a few months back and am quite impressed! Quite a bit of room in it, plenty quick, and handles very well - but not as well as the vette
IMHO - You should sell the Corvette.
Put the money in the kids' college fund.
Spend time with the kids. You'll miss them when they leave.
When the kids graduate college (or get a giant scholarship) you can buy another Corvette.
It seems like a long time to wait.
But it isn't.

Nice thought, but no. 1) I don't take time away from my family for the vette.. so that's just silly. 2) We're already good about throwing tons of cash into a college fund as is. So.. should be okay there.
But, yes.. you are right. If I ever had to come up with a chunk of cash for an emergency I could sell it. Hopefully that won't happen.

What is he talking about? The Vette is paid for, and a Nassau Blue one at that, which will only become more and more valueable because of the limited number of them.It IS a beautiful color, although my Electron Blue is pretty sweet too .
If you can afford to keep it, do it. Imagine the look on your kids face if you give them the keys when they can drive, and say"Let's take the Vette out, YOU drive." I remember when I said that to my son, when we were preparing to leave Carlisle the year he got his license.Did you ever see a grin on a kids face that lasted for almost 3 hours( time it took to drive back home from Carlisle)?

Dude thats 22 years..... they may not even have a Corvette!!!!!
its ok man..its for the better. As a fellow vette owner and enthusiast. I suggest I come by to your place once a month and take the car for a joy ride. You can join too if you want. That is, if you arent too busy changing diapers
