NOTE: Monday I sent an email to Hurst, to find out if or when the zo6 shifter will be out. Today they responded " sir, as of right now there is no word of producing a shifter for the zo6 corvette. The only shifter we list is for the T56 trans, the zo6 uses a different transmission".
It's the same shifter for all the C5's, I have a "sample" from Hurst that I will be installing in my car to replace the B&M when I get back from my trip.
The response Mr. Gasket gave is incorrect. They don't have much knowledge of unreleased products, and have a tough time covering all applications with such a large product line. I'm pretty much their "Corvette guy".
The Z06 Corvette utilizes a T56
transmission identical in design to all other C5 Corvettes. It simply has
different gear ratios. The Hurst C5 shifter, PN 391 5085, will fit the Z06
and all other C5 models to date, as will any other C5 shifter.
I think the Hurst shifter for the Vette being on the market anytime soon is like the Cubbies winning the World Series: IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. :mad We've been hearing about this thing coming forever. Maybe it'll be here by the next Ice Age or the Second Coming, if we're lucky.
Yes like Chris said.....all but out the door.He will be sending me one of the 1st ones and I will install it and give my report.I am sure I will love it.Thanks Chris.
I actually spoke to that tech to get him to change his response to the Z06 application, and we discussed the shifter status. He decided to state early January as his estimate. That was his choice based on the extended delays that have occurred, to make sure the date is later than actual delivery. He has no knowledge of the current status of the product, he only sees the delivery estimates that have come and gone. Keep in mind that the techs are there to support existing products, not to provide sales info or even technical info about products not yet introduced.
Pretty much in this case, trying to get info from any other venue at Mr. Gasket is only going to cause headaches, for me and everyone else. It's a big company with many products. As I've stated before, you won't get more accurate delivery or technical from anyone at Mr. Gasket beyond me.
Actual delivery estimate at this time is second week of December. Assembly will occur next week when production resumes.
Well, as I've said before, everything except the shifter assembly itself is done, and has been ready since July. Seeing as how you have a B&M but are still interested in the Hurst, I guess you've seen the problems of a rushed product...
There are only 3 people who have this shifter now. There are MANY eagerly waiting. The 3 that have it were simply in the right place at the right time, when I needed cars to try these pre-production sample units. No other units were or are available until the production run is released. thanks and hang in there,
Exit 28 Motorsports and LAPD are both offering this shifter at $169.95 + free shipping. Other retailers are also offering this shifter. No one has this shifter in their possession until product release, currently estimated as mid-December. Ordering right now would be a good idea since this market appears to be quite strong and backordering could occur sooner than expected.
