the colour looks like the regular Coolant green but there looks to be some chunky particles in that. I would check your coolant hoses and it looks like you need a new serpentine belt as well

is that balancer rubbing against the Steering rack !!! Thats is a major issue if so ! I hope that is just the way the picture makes it seem !

your crank snout is broken by the looks of it

Maybe time for a new motor !

is it a blown application? If so the bolt has broke of. If not the crank snout may have just broke or the pulley has broken. Either or do not drive the car. It needs to be fixed asap !

I just bought this car and it has a ton of problems. I have 6k to blow on the car but would like to keep it under 5. Im buying an RPM stage 5 t-56, c5 or c6 z06 clutch and whatever you see broken in the picture. Planned on an exedy dual disc but thats gonna have to wait. She is stock so I think a c5z or c6z clutch is more than capable. I will take the car to tonys corvettes if they ever call me back. I called them saturday, no one picked up even though they are supposed to be open. At any rate, Tony is a great guy, he answered all my questions over the phone and knows his stuff I called him friday evening.

As you can see, I lost power steering.

hopefully they can just weld the power steering rack. The main concern would be the balancer comming off the crank snout. Try to see if the bolt has broke off. There is just one big bolt that hold it in.

If you notice your serpentine belt is no longer on yout pulleys proper path on the crank balancer pulley. That would mean it has moved which makes me think that either the bolt broke or the crank snout is damaged. Idon't think you could have caused this by anything you did unless you have be working on the car and didn't tighten the crank pulley. Unfortunatly I would be prepaired to be spending some money and hold off on the rpm tranny for now

I cant really hold off on that right now, its shot. If anything, I can hold off on the clutch, rather not but I guess I might have to. Im still in a crazy situation though, the shop that had the car before may have done this but they shouldnt have been working up there. They didnt take very well care of my car at all. Grease all over the body, food wrappers in the passanger seat, spilt drinks, paint chips.

I am contacting the better buisness bureau, my god I cant spell. I didnt expect the car to be perfect with 90k on it but this is retarded.

unfortunatly this issue is going to cost you some money If your tranny is shot you will definatly want to replace the clutch at the same time. Its a big job so you only want to do it once if possible. Not trying to scare you but I think the better part of your 6grand is going to come into play with the new tranny clutch and fix of this and thats assuming the motor has no bottom end damage. If the motors bottom end is damaged you basically need a new motor

Please take it to a repuatble place and have them look at it. I wish you luck !

don't run it !!! that pulley is moving and digging more and more into the steering rack !!!

You are only going to make things worse ! Just leave it off and tow it where you need it to go.

it let go at the top of first gear. I had to drive it home and it seemd to run fine. I will have it towed to tonys corvettes.

rpm- 2300
clutch- 500
labore- 1500
belts and other random crap should be less than 1700, I hope

wish me luck, I should have a new car when it comes out

Crank pulley failure is as common on here as column lock syndrome. Looks like the belt ate through the Tstat housing and coolant spewed everywhere - never saw that before. Hopefully, the pulley only did superficial damage to the rack and surrounding components. If so, it shouldn't be too bad a fix.

Best of luck in the repairs.

Usually preceded by belt squealling --- maybe even for a few months prior to this failure.
