I'm new to th c5 scene, looking at a 2000 mn6 coup. Are there any chronic issues with the 2000's.A friend of mine thought he'd heard something, but couldn't remember.Down to a couple of cars that look good and have a good price.Looking forward to joining the c5 generation. Deal is close to being a done deal looking forward to being a c5 owner, fast with comfort and STYLE.Love my shark, don't think I'll ever get rid of her,but the only option it has is power steering. Roasted our but on summer road trips, and no o.d. with bb kills you at the gas pump on the road.

Reason: update
I've owned my '00 for nearly 8 years now. Bought it brand new. No major issues with it. It even has the original battery. Good luck.
thanks tvet & Army2000 (namvet myself)hope deal gets made, the old shark is a blast, but a bit of a pain on long trips (no a/c or radio) looking forward to some modern comforts and quicker e.t.'s
I've had my 2000 vert for almost 4 years, no problem with it, it's a GREAT car. You'll be extremely happy with a 2000 that's been well taken care of!!! Good luck, Ron

My 2000 has a problem with the shifter jumping out of reverse once in a while. Has done it since I bought it. the clutch pedal would stick to the floor at high PRM until I drilled the hole in the line a little bigger.
only has 24k miles now.
I bought my 2000 C5 MN6 coupe new and still have it. It was a daily driver up until last year. I've had minor issues similar to what others have posted, most of which are maintenance related (I'm coming up on 95K miles). *Please also note that I also drove my vette pretty hard than others...dodging that CA traffic u know...
-- column lock (under warranty/recall)
-- changed battery twice
-- replaced oil sensor
-- transmission repaired/replaced clutch* <-- no longer a lead foot after I saw the bill!
-- replaced water pump (under warranty)
-- replaced serpentine belt (stupid me I sprayed WD40 to take care of a squeak and got junk all over the engine bay; had the stealership replaced/clean up -- lesson learned)
-- replaced the gasket around the rear end (small leak)
-- replaced radiator (crack in the plastic; gets hot out here)
BTW after I had the tranny/clutch fixed, I no longer had the problem of the sticky clutch.
Good luck,
- Eric

Reason: more info
I've owned my '00 for two summers and 9,000 miles, from 13,000 to 22,000 miles. I had to remove the factory recall installed and subsequently failed Harness K, and install a CLB shortly after I got it. No other problems. All the rest of the money I've spent, lot's of it, have been on mods!
Self Fixed - Headlight gear - left side - Dickman method replacement parts
Back around 28k on the clock. REPEATED belt squeal / chirp... All done under warranty.. Replaced Idlers (first) and new belt. Didn't fix - 2nd try- replaced water pump - didn't fix it, 3rd try - replaced Harmonic Balancer (all warranty) - new belt - that fixed it...
Belt chirp back - replaced using Gatorback belt - so far so good.
Area around rear diff is a tad greasy. Not leaking yet, can see that sometime in the future.
Engine and tranny - strong and will take anything you throw at it! no oil burn whatsoever.
If you learn all the little "self fixer uppers' above (and a few others that may pop up) you do just fine. I have no complaints nor regrets whatsoever.
sounds doable I am a DIY guy pulled my big block and trans on my shark ,swapped trans rebuilt motor, hope I can learn this new electronic stuff. By the way where do you find the CLB every one refers to.I will have to learn new places to look for some of the C5 stuff.
This is found on 'C5 Tech', the very first sticky.
You can have the stealership run your VIN # to see if the CLB was taken care of. Hopefully the person you are purchasing it from has already done this. If not just take it to the dealer, their is a recall on this (dealer will pay for fixing).
No major problems with my 2000 with 26,000 miles. CLB and cags defeat I added. Differential seal was leaking but that is pretty much typical with C5's or somewhat common.
