Default Radar Detector Sorry Don't Shoot

Sorry to post another boring thread.

I have a quick question and the forum is a sure place to do research with all of the well notified car gurus.

Is there a radar detector that I can yell at to turn off when I dont want the warning any longer? I recently got a k40 radar and have never had one in my 8 years of driving. Its annoying the hell out of me in the city and goes off in the same spots every day. I want to have one for safety but I've never gotten a ticket in the vette in 2.5 years. Oh yeah I have it mounted on the passenger visor with bracket and its a pain and dangerous to reach over and hit the button for it to mute each time.

What is the best rated radar detector besides a valentine one which I cant afford and any experience with the k40?

Is there a radar detector with a blue led display?

Thank you

Which one of those is better for detecting laser/radaR?

Just bought the Escort 9500i and you can program it to not go off in places you know it not radar but if it detects another type of signal it will warn you. It was kind of pricey but it is gps equiped to show warnings and your speed. It has alot of options and
you can program to your needs.

You can set mine by the engine RPM. If you are not exceeding the MPH posted it will not alert. One RPM over and it bells and whistles.

He mentioned the V1 is out of his price range, so that puts the 9500i out of his range too... although we all know the V1 is better.

Depending on which car I'm driving, both my Escorts (8500/9500) are wired with the "Smart Cord". It has a built in "mute" button if you have placed the detector out of reach.

The mute resets (off) after the initial signal is out of range.

They have a 9500 now that learns your route each day and does not repeat warnings.

Yeah till the police know where the false warnings are and then hide by them with their radar guns. I thought it was a funny mod that they put on the radar detector.

Each radar runs on a specificfrequency... so when you mark a known false alert as false, it supposedly notes the GPS location of the false, and also the frequency... thus being able to pick up a different radar in that same spot.

Thats the idea anyway. I'm a V1 user, so I don't know if this works as advertised or not.

And this is in a Vette.

So to translate your statement:

Correct! Since these radar detectors are all made the same they will all pick up the same false alarms. Now all a crooked cop needs to do is get one of these radar detectors and find out where the fase signals are and hide there.

I have seen cops do worse than this.

I was on the highway a few years ago. A cop entered the highway at full speed and blew past me well over 100 because it was so fast I looked like I was parked. I seen him pull over a car for speeding a few miles down the highway. Now the cop could not radar the car from off of the highway due to the hight of the on ramp and by the way the cop was driving when I went over the bridge and seen him get on the highway.

What the cop did was illegal. He sped up fast enough so he could bust cars that were speeding that he would have never radared if he was driving the speed limit.

I see this alot on the rural highways in way up Wisconsin.

This proves what some crooked cops will do to get them a speeder.

For me I trust my Valentine1, I see them coming up before they can radar me.
