Default Trouble removing swaybar endlinks...help

So I got new metal endlinks for my old stock rubber ones, which are basically all rotted out, and im trying to install them. The actual bar is no problem to get off, but the endlinks are giving my headaches.

The nut on the bolt that holds the endlink in place just rotates with the actual bolt itself. There isnt a bolt head on the other side either to hold while trying to remove the nut.

here is a pic of the metal endlink. This one has 2 flat sides to the circular part on the "inside" of the endlink, allowing you to maybe get some sort of grip on it while tighting the bolt.

However, the stock endlink has a completly circular ring that is attached to the inner part of the bolt, making it impossible to hold it and keep it from turing along with the nut.

Im sure there is probably a better way to do this...and im just a little mentally challenged...

any suggestions?

Dan

On the OE end link, you should be able to use a TORX bit (forgot what size) to hold the threaded shaft still and then use an open ended wrench to break off the nut. Here is where a gear wrench really comes in handy to get the nut off (haha).

Or you can just cut the link off with a sawzall. I had to do that with my Hotchkiss links. The boots broke, and the joints wore out so it made alot of noise. Then the hole stripped out so I had to cut the link off.

No on subject but I couldn't help but notice the Peck Plaza in the background of your signature picture. Stayed there a couple of years ago. Love that 29th floor restaurant also.

At the end of the threaded shaft there are 2 flat sides. Slide a open end wrench 19mm is what I used but I think it may be 18mm over the 2 slots and loosen the nut. I have mine apart at this time polishing the endlinks and the swaybar

ok cool, thanks guys. Ill try the torex thing, i see now that the aftermarket endlinks have the torex end to them (didnt notice that on the OEM parts, but im sure they are there) ...i cant believe i missed that lol.

Ill also look for the 2 flat sides on the threaded shaft, i see that there are two flat sides on the aftermarket one, but it didnt feel like they were like that on the OEM ones.. ill have another look.
Thanks guys
