If you go to a drag track to run your car does someone look at it to determine if it requires a roll cage or other safety stuff based on your mods. For instance I have a S/C Z 581rwhp do they look over the car or do they allow you to run first to see your time.If you need a roll cage can someone post pictures I would like to see them as well other equipment such as seat belts and straps.

Most tracks will have a "Take it to The Track night, where for a fee, you line up and hit it. You'll be tech inspected. They may ask for a dial in before your first run, if so ask their opinion. Most of the tech guys will take one look and get close enough. Once you have a time set, the ET and speed will determine the class and level of safety mods your car will need.
yes you'll do your first run and if you are in the 12s you need a helmet I believe and 11s or so you need a roll cage. With 581rwhp youll have to brake hard at the end to make it into the 12s. They'll look over the car to make sure the battery isnt relocated etc or that there's nothing sketchy if it's modded. If they ask if youve run it before or if you know how much hp just play dumb. I got 2 warnings in my RX-7 before being kicked off the track. Didnt have a helmet or rollcage and ran 11.8@122 lol. Each track is different with it's rules and how close they watch you. I'd rather be at a safe one but they are a pain in the *** sometimes
helmet in the 13's is required, a roll bar for every convert is required and nhra i believe 11.49 require a roll bar. test and tune you will be able to run in the mid low 11's with no issue 2-3 runs....they wll tell you get a bar or dont come back... at a race..if you run quicker even if you win they can toss you out.
it all depends on your time! you run to fast more than a couple of time and they give you the boot! but they will usually tell you what u need for that time range
The initial tech inspection pretty much involves the guy just quickly looking over your car. When he sees it has a license plate and knows its driven on the street, I doubt he'll ask any questions (depending on how loud your exhaust is) other than what times (ETs) you expect to run. He'll then write the expected ET on your rear window in white shoe polish or something.
Tell him your ET will be a 14.5 so you can line up against a ricer or something. (j/k)
