Fix for vibrating shifter during higher rpms??????????
I think I saw this topic before, but I did not have a ZO6 when I saw it, so I did not pay any attention to it. It is a buzzing vibrating sound that occurs during hard acceleration. How can I stop it, besides slowing down, which is impossible in this car!!!!

The **** is loose. You will have to remove the cover with the shift pattern by prying it up with a small screwdriver, pry out the pin, screw the **** down farther clockwise, then put (hammer) a new pin in and the noise should go away. Let the dealer do it - sounds like a warranty issue to me.

I agree with Zapper. After replacing my stock **** and prying that damn T-pin out, I'd say that going to the dealer is your best bet. You know, this may be the only case that I'd suggest a dealer.

It's the top of the shift boot rubbing against the shaft of the shifter. Try running up the revs until you get the noise, then push around with your finger at the top of the boot and see if you can make the noise stop. This is a very common complaint on Z06s. I think a leather-friendly lubricant between the top of the boot and the shaft will eliminate the noise.

I have an aftermarket shifter. I used 3/8 inch heater hose on mine to cut down on the vibration. Still does a bit at high rpms...thats the price you pay to have a shorter throw.
