I don't know. From what I have read and been told from previous 97 owners...these cars had problems/glitches. I talked to one felllow that was on the waiting list for a little over 6 months. He said the car had lots of problems and spent a lot of time having warranty work done. The prices are coming down a good bit over the past couple of years. The 05 Corvette started this. IMO.
Most generations' first-year cars are kinda glitchy. But if you the previous owner is good to it, then there won't be a problem. My dad's '84 and it never had a problem except for those god awful power window ribbons.

With that mileage the price is in the ballpark. I had a 98. Great car. The only problems with the 97 (and 98) was a noisy fuel pump right behind the driver's side door and a recall on the faulty steering column lock. Other than that it was a pretty bullet-proof car.

I agree completely. They didn't really have many problems. That seems like a pretty good price. And as for the column lock, that problem lasted the entire run of the car. Let us know if you get it. They are pretty reliable and will last you for years. There is a ton of knowledge in the C5 section as well.
Fair price, and a good car. Do you have any first hand knowledge?
I do. I did a CLB and oil pressure sensor at 125,000 miles. This car does 100 miles a day. and is now at 130,000 and going strong. I bought the car with 90,000 on it, and was untouched when I got it.

I used to think one of these days i would trade up for a newer corvette(C5).
After getting mine and being on this forum with all the hatred for the C4 i don't think i'll ever support the C5 do to the haters. I know i wouldn't be one of those guys but still... the thought of driving a C5 with the same people that bash the C4 just isn't going to happen now. Call me crazy but I'll take my C4 over a C5 any day.

From what I understand one of the major complaints about the early C5s was excessive oil consumption. It turns out the problem was due to the design of the piston rings. The problem was most apparent in cars that were subject to high rpm/ low engine load, on other words, owners who tended to drive around town in 1st & 2nd gear.
Ask for service records on the car. If you can get the VIN a dealer can run the service history for you.
Probably a fair price-Is that a ZO6 vent by the back wheel? A lot of it depends on the actual condition of the car, but if it's excellent, you can't go too wrong. It it really has all options (memory, sport seats, both tops, F45 suspension, 6 speed, remote 12 disk, etc.. , it sold for way over $40k new, and if the miles are correct, should be a good car, right?

The oil use problem was in the 2000 I believe, not in the 97, 98 or 99.
