Hey everyone,
I'm fairly new to this site. I don't have a Corvette, but I'm doing my research to decide what I want to buy. I'm leaning toward an '04 ZO6 as opposed to a C6 due to pricing. My question is, what should I expect to be paying per month for insurance if I go with the ZO6? I'm 26 yrs old, married and have a clean driving record. I currently have my insurance through USAA. Just trying to get a general idea of what to expect.
You should call your insurance company, and others, for quotes.
Many companies now provide quotes on-line.
Asking people what they pay is meaningless .... rates vary by location, driving record, how many vehicles you own (is the Corvette your only car or a "weekend warrior vehicle") .... etc ..... you will get replies that are too varied to be meaningful.
Yes, don't guess, call your Ins co. tell them what you are getting. Some Ins co's require a Vin # for INS Quotes, grab one off of a dealer add or Auto trader add.
I did what was suggested and got a quote online from my insurance co. I was shocked to see that an 04 ZO6 would only raise my 6 month premium by $437. As far as I'm concerned, that's not bad at all....I was expecting a lot more. Thanks for the suggestions!
it's hard to gauge what the incease is about or what it is compared to. remember you are also looking at a car that is only 4 years old and carries a sticker price of around $48,000.

Since I used the insurance co I currently have, they had all my policy info already stored. It broke it down by what I am paying and how much it will go up
Call your insurance company to get a quote AND call several companies.
I have one company insuring my Harley and a different one insuring my two cars (Vette included). The same company wasn't the lowest price for both situations.
I switched to AAA for my Harley because it cut my previous premium almost in half.
I called around for the vette and eventually ended up with my original vehicle insurer (Wawanessa, Calif & Oregon only) as they were $200 to $500 a year cheaper than some other quotes.
Lots of good information above, and another good point is to know ahead of time before talking to whomever you decide to, what you may be able to say or tell each agent to help lower your premium, Here is a link to a page that has plenty of helpful tips on how to possibly save money on your auto insurance... A few phone calls can save you big bucks...
Good Luck......
Good point, and it's very true. I've had all my vehicles insured through USAA since 2002. When I bought my Suzuki Hayabusa, their quote was 5K/year. I called around and ended up using State Farm for my bike only paying $75/month. It does pay to make a couple calls!

I have a horror story too long to list here. I have a z06 that i let someone drive and they totaled it. I didnt have the photo inspection done in time (not required in most states) and to this day i have still not seen a dollar for the car. Geico will do everything to avoid paying a claim. Please stear clear of geico. I learned a hard lesson so you dont have to.
Yes, it is an individual thing. And yes, sometimes a "deal" is NOT a deal when it comes time for a claim. Look at some consumer ratings and reviews.
I've had State Farm for about 25 years and have coverage for my truck, my boat, my 'Vette, and renters insurance. This results in a discount but I'm also "old" and have a good record. I pay about $64.00 a month for the 'Vette alone...full coverage.....don't go for anything less.

I was expecting more too. I was driving a 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. My Corvette is a 1999 model. So I though for sure being newer and a sports car, two seater at that, it would be a lot more. It actually turned out to be $4 a month cheaper then the older Lincoln. This is with full coverage and everything.
There are a lot of good secrets about Corvettes. They are cheaper then some cars for insurance. They get pretty good gas mileage for a V8 sports car.
Insurance was my wife's hang up as well. I got quoted on the Corvette and a Mazda 3 (Two cars we were considering as out 3rd "economy" car). The Corvette was only $15 a year more expensive, made my decision VERY easy. It is very resonable but I do have it listed as our 3rd car along with our home owners insurance. I have a coupe but the quote on a Z06 was only another $30 a year.
I have USAA as well. I pay $635.00 per year for my 2000. But I'm over 50 years old and have a perfect driving record so far. The Escort helps keep me out of trouble so far. Even if you find it a few dollars cheaper, stay with USAA there the best. Believe me I just had to use them to go after Allstate. The guy that backed into had Allstate. What they wanted to pay me wouldn't even cover the paint.

Just call up USAA and ask them. They are very helpful and can give you a quote in minutes. Your rates will depend on your location, driving record, etc.
Stick with USAA, IMO the very best insurance company there is. I insured my second vette with them in 1964 (63 swc) after my commission as an ensign, and have been with them ever since. They have insured all of my vettes, cars and motorcycles, homes, life, etc. No hastle at all as they are not on a commission basis. When I totaled my 91 vert, they gave me top dollar for the car and added even more because I had just purchased new tires the week before. Currently they have all 6 of my vehicles (2 vettes, 3 blazers, 1 truck) insured and give me the best rates. As far as I am concerned, no other insurance company comes close. If you stick with them, you will never regret it. BTW, my SWC annual premium in 1964 was $150, and dropped to $64 when I turned 25 in 1965. Those were the days.
