Had problem with car starting on Friday, I just tryed several times untill it cranked over and started, had the same problem next day so tested my battery at local Auto Zone no problem with battery. After installing battery back in, car started and had no problems the rest of the weekend. Can hear a relay operating, and clutch interlock is working, but starter did not activate. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Sounds like a "dead spot" in the armature. If you can access the starter somehow when it will not crank, tap it with a hammer and see if it works after that.

I keep a long steel rod that I have used on other makes of cars to "wake the starter" for this reason.

If it works, the starter will need to be replaced/fixed.

This is a relatively common problem... more than likely its the connection from the battery to the starter, its either lose or corroded...
a free and simple test at Pep boys would point to any charging problem in the battery or alternator/gen.

Assistance needed:

I had not started vette for 2 months always garaged. When I tried, the battery gave weak sound. So, I jump started with no problem. The vette started fine and I drove it around. Return home and turned off the car and restarted with no problems. About 2 weeks same issue and same solution. Three weeks without starting my Vette same issue as above and same solution.

The Developing Issue:
Couple weeks haven't drove my vette, attempted to start it, again weak battery sounds. I tried to jump start, it wouldn't start. The starter and motor were turning but it appeared as out of fuel- not the case. I heard a lot clicking sounds coming from the fuse box. The dashboard flicking with "Security" as well as left exterior daytime running light flickering. I tried jumping the vette, but won't turn over and start. It did turn over when it appeared enough power reached but short lived. It seems like lack of power or starving fuel.

I decided to buy a new battery, and installed it. Connections cleaned and torque at 11.

Same issue as mentioned above: The vette 'Security light' flicking on dashboard and and ticking sounds in fuse boxes. Car won't turn over. My dashboard won't register with the standard setting when you turn the ignition switch on. I am unable to access the DIC to get any codes.

Actions Taken Thus Far:
1. Turn key to crank over 6-70 times with battery cable disconnect.
2. Allow the ignition switch on for about 5-10 and the "Security" flicking/flashing stopped, but no power or turn over to start following this process.
3. Disconnected and reconnected neg. cable to reboot. All the lights activate, rear latch goes a little crazy (off and on). When I turn key ignition on, flickering on dashboard and ticking sounds in fuse box sounding off.
