Bought a Ctek Multi US 3300 charger/maintainer this morning and hooked it up to my '99 Coupe. It appears to be charging as it should but the charger itself seems pretty warm to the touch. It's not so hot I can't pick it up and hold it, but it does seem a lot warmer that I was expecting.
Unfortunately, I have to use an extension cord and the only one I have on hand right now is a 25' heavy duty power tool cord. The ext cord itself is cool and in good shape.
Is this normal or do I need a better extension cord?
My Ctek gets warm but now hot. DO NOT place it where heat can cause damage or fire. I place mine on my ladder step where it is safe and the aluminum step acts as a heat sink. It is also only warm when it is on a prolonged charge. Once it gets into the float mode, it is considerably cooler.

Good response. Mine acts the same way. I would say that the Ctek gets as warm as the transformer that is in a "wall pack" AC/DC power supply for any of the many telephones, AC/DC powered wall clocks etc that we all have. Not to worry.

If I would tend to use a low gauge extension cord if you're worried. Low Guage = Thicker wire. 10 or 12 gauge is safe.
