I am assuming you mean by dry start, no fuel or low fuel pressure. The best way to start any of the new cars is to turn the key on, and then wait a few seconds then the fuel system is up to pressure. In most cars you can here the slight hum of the electric fuel pump in the gas tank. Now obviously you can not have the radio, and fan motor going to hear the pump.

Yup. I invariably let the fuel pump cycle before the initial start up after the car has been sitting for a while. Good counsel.
Anybody have problems with dry starts after car sitting for awhile?
J eez I think the guy means after sitting for a long time and oil drains down. I am no engineer but I would think it would take a hell of a long time to pose a prob. I had a 74 Lemans that I had left sitting well over a year, poured gas in carb and it fired right up .I would think if it did get bone dry starter would not turn it

Also, I mentioned this in another thread a few days ago,
I put the pedal to the floor and turn the engine over (doing this the computer wont let the car start/run) for a few seconds, get that oil movin'.
It only takes a second and can only do good, no harm.
It seems like there is no oil being picked up. Have normal oil pressure when driving it, but on the DIC when I start it up, after sitting a couple of weeks, it indicates low oil pressure. I have K & N oil filter and Mobil 1, but it really rattled the other day. I would think if oil pump was a problem, it would have low oil pressure all the time. This is a 2000 with 17K on it. The easiest answer is to drive it more often.
