Default clutch spring - one more time...

My clutch spring came off/apart last night. I have read several threads here on it and it seems to be the "needs to be there"/"you can leave it off" thing going on.

It came of about 2 blocks from my house last night, and I was able to use clutch, etc.. no problems.. I drove in this morning and clutch pedal feel is fine. Pedal comes all of the way to the top when released, I have always thought the clutch was easy to push in, hold, drive in traffic, etc.. and I don't really notice any difference in feel without the spring there.

So, Do I need to add it? Some threads state abnormal clutch/throwout bearing wear without it.. some say that does not happen... If the consensus is YES, can it wait for a while (say still I'm off one day and can get round to figuring out if the spring is broken and I need to get another one or it just came off and I just need to put it back on?

If I don't need it on, I'll just leave it off as I don't need any "help" with the pressure of the clutch pedal for regular or stop and go traffic patterns.

Thanks,

I've been following those threads also. I took mine out before I had the clutch pedal stuck to the floor problem. My friend didn't and he had the pedal to the floor problem. My spring has been out for over a year with no problems, although it does feel weird driving my friends vette with the spring still in. My only problem is the slave or master cylinder with my pedal getting mushy on a hard 1,2, 3 gear run.

Thanks for the info!

Looks like it can be in/out, I already have a noisy throwout bearing (been noisy since purchase) so I don't want any more "undue" wear /tear in there. I'll not worry about it and just look into putting it back in one weekend when I'm kicking back having a few brews, etc..
