I just had my 2000 MY Vert shipped up from flordia, when it arrived it was filthy. Here in NY it is about 10 degrees. The car is covred in dirt and salt. What should I do ? It will be in storage for a few months, do i clean it immediatly ? or can i wait for a little bit warmer of a day. I hate to spray it off and have water freeze on it . thanks Gary
Unless you have heated storage-wait for warmer weather.
If its really killing you- take it to a quarter car wash and just spray the he!! out of it. It won't get the film off but will get most of the salt. Don't use the brush just spray. Check out the car care section.
Don.t put a car cover on a dirty car if you have one.
And welcome to the Forum

So you had your new car trucked from Florida instead of driving it home in order to keep it clean
Drive it to a car wash, rinse it off real good and by the time you get it home it will be dry.

How much did you save have the car shipped open transport vs. closed truck? If it bothers you that much - find a high end detail shop and spend what you saved getting it shipped on an open trailer.
I wouldn't wash a car in the driveway when it's below freezing....but I'm a wimp that lives in Arizona.
About 10 degrees here also. I wouldn't even attempt to wash a car in this weather. The salt will not corrode anything when it is below zero. As soon as it is above freezing, i would wash it.
I assume the car stays in a garage, right? My attached garage stays about 40+ degrees so I'd have no issue with taking it to a spray wash and really spraying the crap out of it. I'd then take it to my garage and dry the door jams, hood and trunk seals and wait for a warmer day to complete the cleanup. I do agree, the salt will not "eat" your metal parts until the temp approaches 32 degrees. Good luck!
