Default Question about lowering my ZO6?

Hi guys Im interested in lowering my 2003 ZO6 using the stock lowering bolts. I was wondering if any of you guys have done this and how the car drove and handled? Or any other suggestion on how I should lower my car. I just want to clean up the gap in the back and a little in the front to give it a cleaner look. Thanks alot

Mine is lowered on stock bolts, with the front bushings shaved off. The rear bushings were cut in half.

Do a search on this topic and you will find waaaaaaaay more than you are willing to read on this subject

Figure I would add that if you search there are also quite a few threads with detailed photos on the procedure too.

Car rides great, lowered about 1.5 to 2 inches. Mine is however a little more harsh than others because I have T1 bars.

I did an alignment with mine and it handles better. It was lowered all the way on stock bolts but then I had it re-adjusted back up about 1/4" or so because I couldn't get the floor jack under to jack it.

So consider maintaince issues with this change.

I don't have any trouble with curbs or speed bumps with this ride height.

The amount to lower and how to do it are covered in a number of posts in this forum and on the C5 tech forum as well as on the autocross and road racing forum. Suggest that you do a search on lowering in each of those forums and you will be able to get a better idea on what and how to do it...

Here is one of the more recent threads, although there are a bunch of them out there.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1912039

There is a right way to do it and a wrong way and it is easy to screw things up by lowering it too much and/or doing it the wrong way. Do it right and it will make your car handle better as well as look better. Do it wrong and you can end up with some weird handling....

Yes but that's very inconvenient compared to just sliding the jack under and being done with it. My garage floor where I do the work is concrete and so it would be interesting holding down the 2x6's so they won't move.

Now the car is lowered but I can jack there rear jack point up and then let it down. Once this is done, the springs stay up for a bit, and this allows me to put the jack under the front jack point so I can change a front wheel.

I do it all the time. I cut an angle on one end to make it easier to drive up on.
