Just got the car 2 weeks ago and it has michelins on the front and toyo proxes TR on the rear295/35/18.My car is kind of loud from the rear and I was wondering if the mismatched tires could be part of the problem.Ive never heard of the toyos. Are they junk?Which ones give the least road noise?
Missmatching tires is never a good idea.
Can't really say that it would be a cause of road noise.
As far as the Toyo's go......if they are the T1-R, then they are a pretty good tire, would not be the same level of "performance" as a Mich. PS2, but then again they cost about a 1/3 or more less than a PS2 does.
Depending on how much tread is on the fronts vs the rears you may want to go ahead and get some matching fronts if the rears have good tread on them...........unless you are road course racing your car I highly doubt you will be disapionted in the Toyo's. Plus it would be alot cheaper to get new fronts in the Toyo than getting Mich. for the rears.....just a thought.
Z's are loud due to no sound deadening from the factory, etc. It's a little more hard core, so to speak, than a base model.
I put sound deadening all over the trunk of mine and have a foam partition and it makes a big difference. But it's still to loud to have a pleasant cell phone conversation or listen to quality tunes, but then, if you're driving a Z06, why would you be doing either of those things?
My toyo's were stupid loud also, it's not because they are mismatched. That really won't hurt anything at all. BFG KDW's are very loud too so don't get them next!

If you can look behind you and see into your trunk then you need a partition or divider as they are called. It made a considerable difference in cutting down on rear tire road noise in my car. Several vendors have them here is one example. There is also an AutoCAD template drawing floating around here if you wanted to take a shot at making your own...
thanks guys,Im going to try some sound deadening material in the trunk area first and see if that improves it a little, then maybe ill try the partition if its still to noisy.Im definitely going to try and get a quieter tire for the toyos, but they are almost new so I got some burnouts to do lol.

If you're worrying about road noise from the tires .... the Z06 is the wrong car for you.
